bramz7
These were still being made in facelifted form until 2008. It was trade sanctions that ceased imports. Fiat took over the factory as far as I know.
somewhatfoolish
I remember being given a lift in a nearly new 55 in the late 80s and even as a 10 year old thinking 'WTF is this?' as everything inside was either painted metal, hard plastic or stinky rubber. 4 speed, non-adjusting seats, no radio, keep-fit windaes and no HRW. Proper bASe. It was spoiled by having one of those shit pop-up sunroofs, presumably fitted by the dealer.

My mates mum had a brand new 45a, most notable for the first fill up with petrol which all ended up on the forecourt as the filler neck wasn't connected. Good work on the PDI there. Pastel blue with grey interior. She kept it about 15 years and covered 8000 miles. I'd have bought it if I'd known it was up for grabs. One of her other sons had a second hand 65 with a silly body kit in colour coded red and caramac interior. I assume they would have been reasonably quick even if only in comparison with a 45. According to this site https://autorepublika.com/2018/03/22/zanimljivost-dana-yugo-uno/ 2620 Yugo Uno 45R's were built between 1988 and 1994. Edit - forgot to mention that between 2008 and 2013 Zastava built approx 41,000 'FIAT' Uno's. xtriple
I've said before about our various Russian block motors - back in the day - and amongst them were of course, several Yugos. 45. 55. 511 and the bigger one, whaterer it was called. Also had a Sana. If you accept them for what they are/were, they are great cars, as are old Skodas (130/5 was awesome for the money though few believed it, sad bastards) and we even had one of the early UK 45s that the passenger could apply the brakes by pressing on the bulkhead with their feet. As punishment for destroying the interior of a new MK3 Granada (with horse stuff and a dead battery from her horsey friends motor on the back seat, which fell over, leaked and rotted the material) I gave my 1st wife a Yugo 45 as a smoker. It was new and she hated it. But only for the badge... After a few weeks she refused to give it back as she had grown to love it. Had the same with s Skoda coupe a while later. brownnova, Eyersey1234, Uncle Jimmy and 4 others 5

warren t claim
The company I first started working as a bailiff at back in 1991 had a burgundy Yugo van that was bought for the specific purpose of uplifting huge CRT TVs for a company we had a contract with. Anyone who drove the Yugo was allocated that job as a punishment for fucking up elsewhere. Needless to say I had the pleasure of driving it after taking out two offside tyres on my Mk4 Escort Combi van here on Moss Lane, Litherland on the chicane traffic calming islands that used to be here. In all fairness the Yugo went like hell and would run up to stupid speeds on it's doubtlessly optimistic speedo. Only the thought of getting crushed from behind by a 26" CRT slowed me down. It's a pity Yugo didn't fit a bulkhead! ProgRocker, BorniteIdentity, HarmonicCheeseburger and 2 others 4
