Looks like I’ll have to bite the billet and hire a trailer to get it home. My mate with a trailer has lent it to someone and can’t get it back for a bit...

You’re welcome to borrow my trailer but the logistics of uniting you with it (it lives on Gower) mean it’s probably easier to hire one.

Sunday dawned drizzly and gloomy...

But it was Yugo collection day, so nothing was dampening my mood!! (Which was mainly nervousness to be honest)

Trailer was hired from a local farmer for £30, and we were pleased it arrived with a winch! We hitched it to the dented Saab and set off. A quick trip over to the seller and we loaded him up without too much bother.

Monies exchanged and the lady who bought this car brand new in August 1989 watched it drive away with us for its new life!

Arrival home became stressful as we realised that we had no brakes and no way of getting the car up the incline onto the drive, thankfully with a bit of bit of car shuffling and use of the trailer’s winch we managed a solution and parked him up on the driveway! 691F87A1-0732-4277-BE0E-6B3D545955DA.jpeg

So what do we have?

A 28,000 mile, one owner car that has spent its entire life in North Wales. Currently not starting and seemingly no foot operated brakes whatsoever.

Interior shows the benefits of little use, and looks lovely!

The graphics are amazing, and apparently fitted after purchase to make it stand out.

Original dealer sticker is just a part of its history. We have every invoice for work the car has ever had (which is a lot!!)

The non running powerhouse

Aside from the not going and not stopping, it’s main problems seem to be bad rust repairs... brace yourselves....

Safely tucked up in the garage.

First jobs will be getting it running. Had a brief look today, I think it may be fuelling related, but I’ll eliminate one thing at a time.

Anyway I’m delighted! It’s clearly been really loved and the lady was very emotional to let it go. Albeit pleased that we are actual car enthusiasts.

That's ace, the level of bodgery for the rust could have been done by me many, many years ago (before Yugo were available here you'll be glad to know).

Top purchase, wish I had a garage like that though (fixing cars on open drives that are a steep angle is my luck).

I'm in love. It's soooo simple! I must see this someday!

You’re welcome to come and pole at it any time. Just don’t poke too hard or done if the repairs will fall off! I hope to be at Chumley next year in it... or more realistically Chumley 2024...

This is begging to be restored.

That is the plan chief!

Only on here would we find someone with balls big enough to take it on.

Either brace or stupid.... I haven’t quite worked out which yet.

Giffertastic! Those 'repairs' look like they're made out of toothpaste or something.

I think they look like cottage cheese or school rice pudding!

Thanks for all the positive comments! I can’t wait to get cracking.

I think I might have to... Would be winter... or next year... or the year after...

Reminds me of when I grouted the bathroom, I wonder who looked at that and thought, ‘yeah that’s fine’.

I thought the ax I drove back from Folkestone had a basic dash although this tops it but a whole dial for warning lights is almost decadent. :)
