Saabnut
This weekend was the 18th Marcon Classic gathering, and the second time I have been to it. Sadly, the prolonged dry spell broke yesterday morning, resulting in me sacking off yesterday. This morning again started very wet but the day ended up hot and sunny. The show ground was very muddy in places and attendance was well down on my previous visit, but still about 150 cars went on the 45km road run with the usual stop off at a chateau with the complimentary glass of wine! Another great day out, the 1966 Spitfire I took had not been out for 2 years but completed the run. It did not start off well, I left the house at 0800 for the 0830 start of the road run (the rally site is less than 5 miles away) and got to the first junction where it cut out and refused to restart. Ended up pushing it back to the house (about a 1/4 mile) to have a look what had gone wrong. It started to rain again so tried to push it into the barn but the grass and slope defeated me, so decided to wind it in on the starter. As it entered the barn, it started and behaved all day. It is running too rich so will have another look at the carbs this week. Pictures below are from the chateau stop and the show itself, in no particular sequence, just as I took them.
