Popular Post nacho man
Our house is up for sale and we have had a few good offers over the asking price, and a offer has been accepted on a house we want to buy. This meant obviously I needed some sort of motor for house moving duties. I managed to sneak in time a 83% filler filled stag last time. However, Mrs T has cottoned on to these shenanigans, so said this MUST be practical or I ain’t moving with her into the new house. We was going to sell her car and buy something that could be used as a tip run special as the new place needs lots and lots of work. But on the plus side it’s two mins from her work. But in the end it didn’t really make sense to sell hers so I have been on the lookout for something. This was at a dealer for a few quid more than the average Diastra but, you know. Fancied a mk3 for a while. These seem to be a high point in Vauxhall’s illustrious vehicle lineup for me. It looks better in the pics. But is generally pretty darn good for a mk3 Astra van. Done 95k and got a mot till next year Also the mot history is literally the best I have ever had on a car. It’s bubbling up on the arches and a sill but doesn’t look like it’s proper rotten. Also had a respect at some point, the paint has a half decent shine to it. Merit spec so not even a cassette player. But 1.7 Turbo Dizzler!! Two owners from new. Drives ace. So had to have it. Left a deposit to pickup this week. Already ordered a service kit, wiper blades and a new gear gaiter. Yes the wheeltrims are being thrown in the Trent the minute I drive it away. So there we are kids, dreams can come true. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk JimH, BL Bloke, Ohdearme and 48 others

cort16
The best looking version of the mk3 Astra is the van I recon. I used to enjoy belting about in the one we had in the factory I worked in. Not sure how many double beds you’ll get in it mind you . nacho man
sutty2006
If that’s the GM turbo diesel I’ve got a cambelt kit, head gasket kit you can have for the cost of postage. I had a yellow one many years ago and scrapped it before I could fit them nacho man
Dan the van
You lucky bugger.GM engine to,much better than the Isuzu. They fly and do 50 mpg.Had one as a courier van,did a very hard 220k in my hands and was super reliable.HGF saw it off in the end, should have repaired it, it deserved it.Been looking for another for ages but virtually extinct now.Bloody well bought sir. nacho man

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk All 4 stud Vauxhall fwd cars will have interchangeable alloys. Those cavalier GSI slabs would definately fit. And are fit. If you buy them and want a spare the same size I have something on my shed you can have for free. Off a tigra or calibra

New POD
To be fair on the wheel front. Are they 13s or 14s on it? Get 15 inch steels and paint white.
anonymous user
Everyone should have a small van, I'm missing mine a lot. My brother had a few of those Astra vans back in the day, they always seemed quicker than the equivalent car, whether it was that they were lighter or better geared, or just that vans are always the fastest things on the road (especially in white) I'm not sure. Dan the van
Can only speak from my own experience of course, but I really rate that lump. All it needed in that 220k(apart from monthly oil changes)was two sets of glow plugs,a set of leak off pipes,a new o ring seal on the oil cooler collar and a clutch. Not bad really seeing it spent most of it's time being hammered round central London.Driven a few of the mk4 Isuzu engined one's and found them harsh and noisy in comparison. (and no faster).
406V6
Anyone who drove on motorways in the 90s will tell you these are the fastest vehicle on the road. Buy it.

nacho man
Picked this bad boy up last night. Binned the trims and have given it a quick clean and polish this morning while I was “seeing a client” Also banged some silver wheels paint on the steels to freshen it up. Will do for now till I sort some original trims or period alloys, going to go hunting in scrappies weekend to find some interior bits. Dan the van
TBH the original trims were notorious for falling off, usually after scraping a kerb.I lost most of mine that way and just ran it without.Gsi or Sri rims look ace tho'.Factory mudflaps are worth getting, they tend to get very dirty waist down. And wind deflecters to stop you getting a wet leg in the rain with the window open. nacho man
nacho man
Been bombing about in this a fair bit this week. It’s Friggin bob on.It’s got the rad fan on a switch. Which ain’t a bother as the temp never goes about the middle, even when in traffic. But I would like to sort it properly, as Mrs T wants to take the dog out in it and I don’t want to have to tell her about that as she will have a meltdown and refuse to drive it. Would this have some sort of computer controlled thingy for operating the fan, or just a thermo switch that turns it on at a certain temp.As it’s had a new sensor, and a brand new rad fitted recently.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Crispian_J_Hotson
I had one on an M plate with the Isuzu engine. It wasn't that old then. That took abuse. It had 14" steels/ hubcaps on it and went like stink. nacho man
