DoctorRetro
Yep, Amber indicators. It took its toll, as cars do... I've added yellow bulbs. I wanted to paint the lenses yellow, but trying to hand paint them yeilded poor results. Luckily I managed to remove the paint. Perhaps I'd better use the spray you can get. Looks OK I guess. jumpingjehovahs, HarmonicCheeseburger, Dirk Diggler and 4 others
Spurious
Hand painted lenses before. Needed to thin out the paint and go on in really thin layers for it to look well and not run
DoctorRetro
Forgot to mention, I managed to get the idle set a bit better, but most journeys lately have been so short it barely gets warm. Work is 2.3 miles away, and I only just get the choke pushed in once in the industrial estate. Done nearly 500 miles since I got it. Will be popping it in for an MOT this Friday to see what it needs. DoctorRetro
Put this on Facebook, wonder if anyone here can help... Hot starting is a bit of a pain, takes a lot of cranking. Also, while in traffic yesterday (30 mins at less than 5mph), when pulling away it was a bit hesitant, needed a bit more throttle. Fuel evaporation? vulgalour
If you're still points and condenser (though I'd expect electronic ignition on this) I'd be pointing the finger at the condenser on that one. Otherwise, check the fuel filter isn't blocked up. When it's warm, go looking for air leaks too, squirting WD40 around the carb etc. will highlight if it's a leaky gasket somewhere. I'd expect a vacuum hose issue to be more apparent when cold, still probably worth checking any of those too just in case you've got a little split or pinhole somewhere in one. DoctorRetro
Thanks. I'm going to replace all vacuum hoses, clean the carb and run some redex through anyway.

DoctorRetro
AX is at the local old-car-friendly garage at the moment, being checked over to see what needs doing for the MOT... Obviously the welding will need doing, but how much else? Place bets now..!

DoctorRetro
Is it bad that now this milestone is passed, I'm looking at the for sale board more? ? How much is an MOT'd AX worth? In all seriousness, I'd love a BX, but will have to save my pennies for a while. strangeangel, yes oui si, Spurious and 1 other 1

vulgalour
If you want a floaty mid-size Citroen to replace the AX, get a Xantia not a BX. The BX is more of a quirkfest, but the Xantia is better at being An Car which, honestly, would probably make you happier. That said, stick with the AX, it seems to be a little cracker so far and a fresh MoT with such a minimal list of items is a great starting point, you could really make that little car very nice and enjoy a bit of motoring stability/boredom. It's a great little car in it's own right. Think hard before chopping it in for a BX; I like mine a lot, but it's not been the cheapest old car I've ever endeavoured to keep going. I paid £300 for it, and I've easily spent ten times that amount on repairs over the last four years. DoctorRetro and Broadsword
DoctorRetro
Bit of a trek out this weekend. We're staying in the Cotswolds as Claire is covering at a showroom in Stow-on-the-Wold. Expenses paid trip. I'm at a loose end all weekend, so I've run an errand for a friend... And popped into Caffeine & Machine. The little AX is a bit out of place! Any other suggestions as to what to do to kill the time? Cavcraft, strangeangel, Six-cylinder and 2 others

DoctorRetro
It was good to see you again, and meet @Mrs6C, plus to get a ride in the DS and see loads of interesting cars. Six-cylinder
Help me check the kickdown cable is returning on the Daimler Sovereign S1 in the garage. Help me deliver the Alfa 156 to a friend who is borrowing it 6 miles away. Check that the Vanden Plas 1500 has enough of an exhaust left to cut and fit a new stainless tailpipe, then judge what clamp is going to be needed. Start reassembling bodywork, pipes (engine is done)and assess what is going to be needed to finish my 1979 Peugeot 103 moped (in garage). Finish adding jump terminals under the seat of my 2003 Aprilia 125cc scooter (In garage) strangeangel, Cavcraft, DoctorRetro and 1 other

DoctorRetro
Probably best I stick to my own company anyway today, I'm not in a great place in my head to be fair. Not a good idea to inflict myself on anyone. Currently sitting in the corner of a Mcds somewhere waiting for my lunch* and attempting to keep away from people. I can only spend so much time in the car...
