brownnova
I did this once a few years ago... I bid on a 1992 Mitsubishi Colt... I won by accident with a high bid of £136. I was told in no uncertain terms by the ex wife that I was not having it as we didn’t have the space. (Even though s few months later she wanted me to buy her a car and we had no more space then... go figure) She got very strident about it.., sadly I gave in and contacted the seller, he was happy to relist it as it had sold way below his desired amount! I felt rather shit about the whole thing... I’d take a very different approach these days (but that might be in no small part to the change in domestic management situation!) Anyway... my tale serves to say that we all do it... there will be a way out.
Mally
I've heard of living beyond your means, but not bidding beyond your means. Paypal keep trying to give me credit, will that work for you? stonedagain

Parky
We need a credit union for this sort of caper. Members chip into a fund, shiters in trouble can access the funds, shiters repay at 10% interest. Profit to be distributed as dividends or donated. Must be a way we can work it out, we manage the Cryptobus fairly well barefoot, puddlethumper, BorniteIdentity and 2 others

EssDeeWon
In Doctor Pandamoniums defence he had the money at the time of bidding but then bought the Almera thingy at the weekend so should have retracted the bid on the Rover 216, that's where he's dropped one, not the initial bidding part. I enjoy reading about this legends antics though, keep it up. Datsuncog, theorganist and Cavcraft

BorniteIdentity
Has this resolved itself yet? There’s a lot of - err - not very helpful stuff being posted, so let’s see if we can’t turn it around. What’s the sit rep? Do you want it?? Does the vendor want to sell at £385??? Let us know. DoctorRetro

Of course I want it, but I'm not in a position to buy until end of month. The vendor wants to sell at 385, but isn't stressing just yet. I'm playing for time. I have both the Mazda and Almera up for sale, so maybe a solution that way. I'm doing what I can to avoid being an ebay twat, but it may come to that. Obviously if anyone on here wants it, I'd even cover 35 quid to make it a straight 350. Only fair as it's my mess up.

My missus wouldn't allow that. She was lovely and understanding about it, but said there's no way it could happen as things stood financially. But if somehow I cleared some funds by shifting another car, then it was all good. She's definitely a keeper. Since I met her 3 years ago, I've had: Daihatsu Move Austin Metro Lada 1200s Seat Ibiza (company car) Dacia Logan (company car) Nissan Prairie Rover 416 Daihatsu Move (another one) Vauxhall Corsa x 2 Mini Cooper VW Golf Suzuki Wagon Toyota Corolla Rover 218D BMW 320 Ford Galaxy Mazda 323 Nissan Almera And I'm sure I've missed some. paulplom
jonny69
I get the feeling BorniteIdentity wants this. I think a convoluted eBay sale needs to happen where BorniteIdentity goes to buy it instead, arrives at the vendor, coughs, before saying in a suspiciously funny voice: "Hellooo, my name is Mr TheDoctor. I believe you have a car for me". "Sure, what's your first name?" "I don't know" Wingz123, wuvvum, stonedagain and 12 others 5
