Northern Twixfest NOW Middleton in Teesdale

Recommended Posts

Just home now.

Thanks for a great day, the location and scenery is stunning around there. Food was brilliant too.

It was great to meet everyone, I think I got around most folk.

Hopefully the @loserone 205 will make its way home OK!

Cavalier was running warm on the way home, it was touch and go at one point!

Looking forward to the next one!

Looks like @loserone’s 205 has broken down on way back though. Sounds like all people and things have been decanted into @320touring’s Toledo and the AX.

Is that why a few of you had stopped at the garage on the way out of  middleton? I thought you were all just fuelin up again? T'was good to get back to the old home turf as it were, I do miss riding on them roads....

Got home 7.30 after a  lovely drive home,     Great driving road down and good crack with many of the attendees unfortunatly I don't think I spoke to everyone so sorry to anyone I probably missed out,    excellent roads excellent company excellent cars and a bloody excellent sausage roll from the cafe.

A++   Would recommend talking shite in a field again.

Just made myself a cuppa and remembered ah biscuit so popped out to garage and it's a bit melted but nice.  Thanks everyone for a good day.

Many thanks, always a pleasure, never a chore.

Special mentions to

@loserone for the organising!

@Jim Bell for the knock-off twixes and also for winning the 'least worst w210' award

@Jimbob McGregor for identifying the steepest possible hills to take a grumpy Toledo over.

Great to see everyone and the general shenanigans!

That'll be Karen.

(And Jim Bell's twixes)

Karen mentioned she hadn't managed to keep track of all the orders, so just in case anyone forget to pay give me a shout and I'll settle up with her when I go to try to get the 205 going again in a bit.  Bizzarely it just stopped dead and wouldn't restart for more than five seconds.  Which is great* as it's our only working car.

Fantastic day and many thanks to Mike for all the organisation. Great turn out and well worth the effort.

I had the pleasure with no * of driving both the best 205 and best AXE show winners thanks to James.

Ben the Merc is ace but you and everyone else that had a go know that.

A final thanks to my personal chauffeur for the day without him the day could have been a lot less enjoyable.

Until next time.

Having slapped the yellow 'AS' sticker in the rear window.... stylishly balancing the AUTOMATIC badge.... I immediately feel less self conscious when I catch people (out of the corner of my eye..) Pointing & Laughing.

I take no notice, just savour the memory of munching [yet another!!] @Jim BellcounterfeitTWIX.

Thankyou kindly, my good man ;)

Cheers for coming along everyone, I feel much better now the 205 has it's old coil back on and is running really smoothly again.

Quite pleased with the turnout , only regret now is that I didn't get a chance to try @Jim Bell's Merc or @Lacquer Peel's awesome 850.

edit: or get much chance to speak to @Split_Pin who vanished much earlier than I expected!

It didn't happen last year because I wasn't fit enough.  This year, and on the wave of having done Inverness for Christmas, I'm feeling up to a south-coast trip again.  This of course means there will be the usual Shiters' lunch meet at the burger van on Portsdown Hill, most likely on Wednesday May 13th.  I'll be in the wheelchair bus, sorry; MrsR has vetoed taking Hairy Pussy even before I've got it home.
We will also be stopping each way at a Travelodge or Premier Inn somewhere in the Midlands, so there might be an opportunity for a Midlands Massiv Meet too.  Or even two of them!  It worked well enough at Cumbernauld!

As mentioned in the Shitesteddfod Thread  the North Wales Classic Car & Motorcycle Show takes place at Bodrhyddan Hall (Clwyd LL18 5SB) on Sunday, 5th September, 10.00am - 4.00pm. This might be an alternative to Chumley and a good chance for some of us to get together. Details here
You don't have to pre-book but if we want to park together as a club we'd need to let them know numbers in advance. From the website:
"Please note, clubs that are wanting to be situated together at the venues and total more than 5 vehicles, we are asking for you to pre book to ensure we have the right space allocation.
As a club you are still eligible to pay on the day we just need to know numbers for the allocation of space.
Customer MUST be in a classic vehicle for the special on the day price to be honoured.
Classic Vehicle - classic car (aged 2007 / pre-2007) or a car in one of the following themes: American / kit / custom / replica car"
so our shite should qualify. I'm happy to take on getting us in as a club so please let me know if you're interested in coming and I'll sort it. We'd need a club name, how about Clwb Ceir Cachu?

Righto, shite fans of Norn Iron,

A suggestion has been put forth that a mini-meet of sorts could be arranged for those of us perched atop this enchanted rock, to strengthen bonds and ogle at terrible, terrible cars about to be inflicted on some other poor bugger.

Venue is: Ballyclare Car Auctions, Dennison Industrial Estate, Ballyclare BT39 9EB

Date is: Wednesday 8th August 2018, from 7pm onward

Deep-fried items of varying degrees of danger are, apparently, available onsite for those who wish to test the strength of their stomach and other major organs.

So pop along, in whatever vehicle you fancy, for a bit of craic and to participate in the ever-popular Crispiest Wheelarch Spotting Competition.

I'll be there, I believe The_Equalizer will be there, and a few other expressions of interest have been indicated from local shiters.

I may even be wearing my newly-arrived Autoshite t-shirt (courtesy of FilthyJohn) to aid recognition.

Drop a line below if you reckon you fancy coming along!

I may be going to this, work permitting.
I've not been before but apparently it's a bigun.
If I go I'm happy to look out for unobtainium frogchod bits.

With the advent of this pesky virus I for one have been missing things such as car shows, Cannock chod-fests and random meet ups.
Employing my crystal ball I’m hoping that maybe, just maybe, Chumley will be on as the date is mid September. If kids can go back ‘safely’ to a school full of kids then I’m sure an outdoor car show will be fine. Fingers crossed.
For the new and uninitiated, Chumley Castle car show is a staple of the AS calendar where we bring down the tone of a proper car show by entering rusty Renault 4s, deteriorating Dacias and crumbling Cadillacs (being literally pushed) into the show ring.  The commentator makes for hilarious listening, although we’re usually placed so far away from the ring we can’t hear him.
Any way who’s in for Chumley this year... if it goes ahead?
