It looks like everyone had a good time and a nice selection of cars. I was thinking of coming but I had to collect the Fiesta and by the time I got home it was too late to set out. I'll definitely make the effort to be there for the next one.

Cheers all for an excellent afternoon. Had a drive in some automobiles of real distinction. In no particular order.

Stage one Saab 9-5 - A car I'm very familiar with, but this time with manual gearbag. Goes like fuck even more than mine. Splendid.

Ford Cougar - Doesn't drive like you'd expect, but not necessarily in a bad way. Would be a nice place to observe the nearside lane from and cover serious miles. Sounded lovely too.

Proton - 1500cc and a 3 speed auto. All of the controls are light and do what they say on the tin. A car for when you can't be arsed driving and I mean that in a complimentary way. You couldn't find an easier car to just hop in out any other vehicle and just drive away. Tremendous visibility though, the large glass area make it a nice place to sit and watch the world go by.

305 - Immense. 1.9 NA XUD burbles along in what feels like the most non fussed car ever built. Seat is like an armchair and the clutch pedal isn't even out of the carpet before its started biting. Feels like they've scaled up and stretched a 205.

220 SLi - Possibly my favourite of the day. Feels like the car I wanted my 216 Auto to be. The best colour, the best interior and a great engine. In my opinion the R8 Rover is the perfectly sized car. Plenty enough room to be practical but still feels like a compact car that can be zipped around car parks etc. Far, far perkier than I expected it to be. Lovely.

A couple others I had passenger runs in and a couple more I've owned or driven previously. Finally a few I missed out on in what was already a full afternoon. There's time yet.

Thanks for a smashing afternoon,it was good to tag along with JohnK and meet so many nice folk again/for the first time.  I must visit this medium more often, sorry if I'm not always sure who's who on here.  Lovely place as well,  and nice mince and dumplings.  And marvellous cars, especially that sweet 405 TD.

Things got weird fast for John and I after we left and drove the Proton about ten miles north to the 'murder scene'.  Turned off the A68 straight into 1991...as eerie as anything I've felt in my life, that place has not moved on from that fateful day.  Sureveillance, mk5 Escort vans, inexplicably appearing and disappearing pensioners and places that apparently don't exist in an official capacity.  I'm sure my Proton is 'known' in Consett now.  Of course instead of putting our curiosity to bed we're now even more fascinated.

Hope to see you all again soon, if we don't 'disappear'.

Well, the venue were very happy with us and we're welcome back, so I might suggest this becomes an every other month type thing.  Could be more frequent but depends on appetite.

I should also scout around and draw up some "test drive" roads, as there are some crackers there.

What does the panel think?

I did see it appear on the Consett Heritage Facebook page, I'll see if I can find it again

The roads heading across to Weardale and Teesdale are fantastic, maybe a bit far but the Egglestone-Stanhope one is something else.

Feasibility study complete and positive results encountered - AS share price up 2.3% when trading opened on the shitemarket this morning.

The Scotoshite board approves of the event outcomeand commends the organising committee for their diligence and effect cost saving re "project off brand twix". All project outcomes and outputs were met. Maister Fowler proclaimed the tea adequate.

The board are happy to sign off on a 6 month 2nd stage testing phase, and expect delivery of 3 further events of increasing quality in this timescale.

Thanks go to our stakeholders and partner organisations for their support in creation of this pilot event, with special mention to TOO SAVVY TRANSLATIONS for their on the fly "north east to weegie" simultaneous translation services.

@Jim Bell did you hear that, you're on a committee.

Is the proximity to the scotoshite supper OK? I.e. last Sunday in the month? Tentatively then, 29th of September.

Whatever works for whomsoever wishes to attend :)

we Scotoshite on the last wed in the month cos payday has usually been then.

Aye, that mebbes works well for this too and gives a couple of potential outings for folk.

I wish I could get north for supper more often but it's six hours driving after work, and usually I have the kids because Labour party, so it's not really fair on them
