Skizzer goes all yuppie on us

Recommended Posts

As per the News 24 thread, I have bought another faded glory.

This time it’s an early E30 320i in Bahama beige with matching brown nylon upholstery. It’s one of my favourite 80s BMW colours, which means it’s desperately uncool to everyone else (except possibly on here of course).

Collection is this evening: I’ve just got back from the bank.

Updates to follow .

The day has started badly enough with the Jag spaffing coolant everywhere on the way back from the bank.

Natwest has closed its branch in Mumbles, sadly, so I had to go into Swansea.  I think the poor XJ-S may be allergic to Swansea.

Fingers crossed it's nothing serious on the Jag, just a loose jubilee clip or something.

Good luck on the collection. I always find it a little suspicious if  new things crop up with a motor, just after a sale has been agreed.

Very jealous; I had a ‘1983 on an A’ 320 in doom blue when I was 18. I paid £100 for it which included a rather splendid amplifier that the owner, some weeks later, insisted was never part of the deal. I bought the car as seen. I reluctantly returned it to him some weeks later once I’d blown the absolute shit out of it.

It lived on a friend’s driveway for a few months until life got in the way and I scrapped it. It was the very first ‘side bitch’ I ever had which started a lifetime of motoring adultery. Next relic was my Ford Capri.

A90 RFL was the BMW’s reg.

Enjoy, Skiz. Hope it works out perfectly for you mate x

That looks like a BMW  to collect a BMW.

Correct - my old 428i.  Which isn’t nearly as pretty.

The E30 is squatting back on its haunches because the boot is full of tools. None needed so far, although we’re not home yet.

Yes been closed a while now sadly. RBS has even closed in town but you can use NatWest, sad times.

Hi from a fellow Swansea (west) person!!!

Max brown.  It’s even browner than it looks in the photo.  And almost immaculate inside - there’s a little wear on the driver’s seat side bolster where they all go, but none of the usual werewolf attack you see on these seats.

Let's all raise a collective glass to the most style conscious buyer ever who specified, quite clearly, his intention to own a 2 door saloon in Brown over Brown.

It is eminently stylish and I would absolutely smoke that to all customer facing meetings.  Once met, never forgotten!

PS - is that your 15th car on the fleet?

That is just awesome! I love these.

I used to work on an A reg 4 door in a light blue colour, it’d done an astronomical amount of mileage but it still ran and drove perfectly. The only way you could tell was the drivers seat being so worn and it’d partially collapsed in the seat base! They’re brilliant cars though imho.

Cracking purchase. Although it is cool to slag off BMWs on here, there is no point denying they did some brilliant looking cars, the E30 being one of them.

That interior is great too. It is another contender for interior colours which need to see more often.

I am looking forward to seeing more of it on here in the future; well bought.

Now that looks like a winner.

Single exhaust pipe too - does it have metal door handles?

Super early ones ( I think they brought them in on a Y..) had metal door handles, no central locking and manual windows as standard.

Shortly thereafter, plastic handles cam win, and anything with a proper cylinder count had electric windows and central locking.

It looks an honest Old tub

Well bought

:)

So a couple of weeks ago I was up at Mathewsons for the auction. I’d bid on a couple of things that didn’t meet reserve. Getting towards the end and this came through. Still didn’t meet reserve but got the call a couple of days later to say my bid had been accepted.
Anyway, we have a caravan at Primrose Valley so had arranged collection for today. First stint is just from Thornton-le-Dale to Filey which is about 18miles. Then tomorrow will be Filey to Leicester either via Humber bridge and Lincoln or Driffield then M18 and M1. Choice of route will depend on how it behaves today and how confident I am that it will be happy on the motorway.
Car collected now and refreshments of Tea and Scones consumed, we are off for petrol with Mrs Foxache following in the modern.

Hi all, i'm after some advice. I know there are at least a couple of us on here that reside over the channel and that the general wisdom level for collectioneering is pretty damn impressive. So what would your advice be in my situation?
How do I go about getting a hydraulic Citroen in unknown condition (only that it is certainly not roadworthy atm) from France, near the swiss border in Héricort to me in Somerset? I REALLY REALLY WANT IT, and am quite happy to pay. In an ideal world i'd just hire/purchase a trailer and rock on into France - but I cannot drive a trailer on my licence (to young...). I've used shiply before but i've been fucked around once and had success once. Are there alternatives?
I need to call the seller, but won't be able to until after work this evening - the ad says no emails (fucking irritating)

Here’s how this thread is going to work. Attached pic is what I have sold. You don’t have to guess what the vehicle is, you have to guess which two well known Shiters are coming to pick it up, what pile of crap they’re coming in and where the mugs they are coming from. They’re arriving at 2pm on Saturday. Go!
I have hints to drop including detailed personal descriptions and I’m funny so this thread will be funny.
