DoctorRetro
It has a rev counter, and it seems to work without the wire.

NorthernMonkey
What size are the tyres? I’ve got plenty of decent 14” ones in various sizes if someone could shitely them down, although by the time you’ve paid to get them fitted, it may just be cheaper to buy some locally? purplebargeken
If I swap the Rover 45 wheels over to the alloys, a set of steelies will be spare. Right PDF but a bit biggerer perhaps? DoctorRetro

Shirley Knott
Great thread! Could the extra connection on the alternator be there to drive the battery warning light on the dash, the one that gives you a warning when the alternator isn't charging?
DoctorRetro
I think it's fine. I started it up again today, bearing in mind I haven't driven anywhere, and only ran it for 10 minutes yesterday, and it started without much difficulty. I'd call that a success. Just the running issues to sort now. CGSB, egg, Lacquer Peel and 2 others

DoctorRetro
With the Rover gone, I moved the Mazda into the vacant spot, and it was the first time it had moved under its own steam since it was dropped off. Still feels like it's running on 3, so hopefully the rotor arm / dizzi cap will cure it. Or maybe not. Maybe ignition module? It's not old enough for points, thank goodness. djim, TrabbieRonnie, LightBulbFun and 4 others
DoctorRetro
Just to add insult to injury, I damaged one of the heater matrix pipes getting the alternator out, so now I have a leak to sort. Hmmph.
