Anglia became Escort became Focus became Puma

With production overlaps, to not upset those people who don't like change.

I suddenly thought this.

Um, Herald estate, shirley?

Late Herald 13/60.  There are 2 on ebay.

I recognised it, probably an age thing. I haven't seen one on the road for years.

Fantastic access to the engine for servicing, the whole front end tilts on that bar below the front grille.

You could have a van version too, a local shopkeeper had one, the Triumph Courier.

Googled Herald just out of interest -  I didn't realise they did a neat little coupe version of the earlier model.

Everyone saying "it's a Herald" - the question is what's the car in the background?!

Oops, sorry. NCF Diamond looks close, but not convinced by the bonnet line near the bulkhead. @xkjagnz may have more info, he had one as seen in first post here:

@Mrs6C can tell us more about these... 😎

^^^ Well found, the line at the rear of the bonnet matches the Triumph's companion.

well spotted - yes it's an NCF diamond - another car that's been laid up for a long time. here it is when on the road - I never drove it on the road, it was my Dad's and I was only insured for the mini back then. 968763335_m.MiniParkLane1997withKitKar001.thumb.jpg.91684fe660174b89b10e26afb43374cb.jpg

Aren't those based on a Hunter?

No,  that was Ginetta GRS. Well put together but they didn't sell many. Wrong doner imo.

I had an NCF diamond, Mk 4 Cortina based. Loved it,  but lost a lot of money when selling it on.

Our NCF Diamond was granada scorpio 4x4 based (right posh) bonnet line was about level with a mini roof, had to stand on a stepladder to do the plugs.

Wifey shunted a near new civic with it, wrote the civic off, slightly bent one bolt on the front bullbar.

Eventually got rid and bought a hilux surf

WTF is this? Obviously some sort of mock vintage van turned into a hipster bar and no longer roadworthy, but I don't recognise it as an Asquith, Fleur de Lys, Ollerton or anything like that.

Looks like a mock vintage shed that been made to look like a van. I don't think the windows are any good for looking through and wouldn't pass the 30% test. I doubt that ever moved under it's own power.

There is a literal Fleur de Lis mascot on the radiator cowl but the chassis is a lot like a series Landrover, suggesting something cobbled together by Wesley Pegden in a shed after being shown some pictures of an actual Fleur de Lis.

Ironically the real Fleur de Lys vans don't have such a mascot. I'm inclined to agree with the consensus that it was cobbled together in a shed to look like a vintage van without any attempt to make it roadworthy. It wouldn't look out of place in Postman Pat - perhaps an episode of the new politically-correct inclusive series where Pat's hipster mate starts a mobile catering business and Pat has to deliver all the random bits and pieces they make the van out of.

A bleak veiw of 'Kuehlungsborn', the holiday home of the Ministry of the Interior of der DDR in 1987.

We've got a Wartburg, a MZ Supa 5 and a Lada. But what is the beige imposter by the Lada? I don't think it's eastern; it has a BL look to it but not quite but there's certainly a western vibe about it...

I just can't place it, any ideas?

@martc:  I share your 'can't quite place it'  thoughts.

VW Passat MK1/B1 came to mind but I can't see a central VW badge or indicator lamps in the bumper ends.

Mazda 616?  It just doesn't match up well enough for me.

FSO Polonez.  Some of these had quad headlights but again it doesn't seem to have the same proportions or the thin bumper of the car in question.

Basically, I don't know.

It looks like an FSO Polonez, but there's also a resemblance to a B1 Passat, maybe someone from the West on a visit.

Edit:- I'm coming around to the idea of a VW K70.DB2020AL01110-large-1086x718.thumb.jpg.30b4ef395ce63f423f1b29e021fab1d3.jpg

Mmmm, thanks for the suggestions -

Here's a twin headlamp B1 Passat -

It could be sans the grille badge...

To be honest, I don't think it's a Polonez, which has a lot of thick plastic upfront...

If you look through the glass on the Lada you can see the driver's door quarterlight, and you can also see it looks like a saloon rather than a hatch.
Pretty sure it's an Audi 80B1, available as a 2 door saloon with twin headlamps, and the slim bumpers with rubber end caps seem to match up.
Probably some 'Ossi' has nicked the fancy chrome grille adornment for his Trabbi...

That is a puzzler. Not buying K70, I know them fairly well and if we are seeing a thick C-pillar that writes it off. They also have shiny bumpers and I think we're seeing black with a bit of valance showing - could be chrome with a thick rubbing strip though.

Dacia and FSO also have the wrong C pillar shape and no quarterlights. Audi is closer but I think they all had that chrome grille and headlight surround. Passat is a very similar car but the grille is wrong at the wing edges I think

Yep I think 1973 Audi 80, possibly in GT spec. Obviously some little toe rag has nicked the badge off the grill as they are a posh Beastie Boy.
