fordperv
Can anyone identify what car this is in the concept, I have been gifted this lovely piece which was owned by a chap who worked at BL then rover as a test track driver he was part of project drive and also the rover tomcat 24hour challenge to name 2 but was part of many more, apparently he got it at his time working there, his son who gave it to me doesnt know the exact year, can anyone identify what car it is My thoughts were along the lines of the MG ADO21 but cant be sure Many thanks Burnside, stonedagain and Dick Longbridge

timolloyd
The rear view looks like it has a deck similar to a Lotus Europa. The front view is very Excel-like. Is it possible that the BL connection is a red herring and this is from another manufacturer/studio? Worth asking on aronline perhaps.
Vince70
Front end looks a bit TR7 ish but as for the back I’ve no idea.

Not likely to be the Rover, it`s a LHD, the Rover is a RHD. That steering wheel is very Citroen like.
Kringle
Lamborghini Athon by Bertone isn't it? Same wheel, rear lights, exhaust, front end, dashboard has exactly the same button layout and the engine bay is exactly the same with the rear wing. AndySnapper
If it was by a BL designer, how about a Triumph TR7? Concept car drawings often turn-out very different looking production cars when the costings are completed. Andy

fordperv
Bit of an update on this for those interested, I have been talking to the old chap who originally bought the design, I explained to him what the car was and showed him a YouTube video of it to listen to (he has dementia and is visually impaired) we were chatting about the design, he remembers he got it from the rover design studio in canley when it was closing and they were selling everything off to the staff, he doesnt know why they would have an interest in it or even why it would be there, but he is a happy man because he never knew what the car was. He says thankyou Kringle, LightBulbFun, Vince70 and 3 others
ProgRocker
BUMP! Is anyone able to ID this car for me? This was amongst a load of photos retrieved from my late parents' house. Unsure if the car belonged to my dad (one of his first cars from the late 1950s or 60s or if it belonged to someone else. eddyramrod

wuvvum
They are gorgeous - my favourite '50s saloon. I saw one parked up in a layby in Somerset on Tuesday, made me want one all over again.
ProgRocker
Cheers barrett! It would have been his first car then. I think this one eventually got repossessed.
Barry Cade
I've got a photo of me servicing one when I were just a lad. No I'm not that old but it came in to the Rover dealer I worked in every 6 months. Daily driver for an old boy.. that was 25 years ago..
