Mr Dean. I introduced myself, too you. No apology required. If I’d have known that the head gasket had gone I might not have been so brash.  Hope you got it repaired, or at least got home home OK? Mind you with the assistance, or not ?, of the two people you were with, you should have been in safe hands.

I’ve finally got round to uploading some pics!!!

We arrived Friday and were greeted by many other Citroens. Our little Daisy repaid me by biting me hard (the open window fell on my fongernail hard... it’s very black now!)

Day three was Motorfest. Much convoying was had. 2E1359B9-F4EB-416D-81E1-FA0F5A37A141.jpeg

Mid convoy it started to rain, this picture was taken by someone who then put it on Facebook! Mrs brownnova and I doing the hood up thing in record time.

Yay,  fame at last. The worlds most invisible grey BX meteor has finally been paped. Ok, it’s hiding behind a red, rather more tidy BX, but to me it’s almost fame. Good to meet Mr and Mrs Brownnova.

Good to meet you and your good lady too! ‘‘Twas a fun weekend! Although the beer in the tent was awful! We stuck to our own gin!

Ah of course, sorry I'm terrible with names. The bx is still running fine it's just pressuring the coolant up and expelling it out the cap. As I live only ten minutes from coombe not a major issue. When I'm back from holiday I'll drag the head off and get it checked and change the octopus whilst access is easier. I was just pissed off as I was going to take him on my French trip, I'll now take the Merc instead. I can't remember who I was with at the time but it was probably Richard, Darren or Tim Leech.

The beer had potential to be very good. The bitter was, in my opinion was rather nice,  if a bit cloudy. They seemed clueless how to rack it off prior to the event , hence why it was cloudy, or hadn’t left it to settle properly. It should’ve been set up on Tuesday. And there should have been more of it. The brewery staff did complain on Saturday that they had brought in extra beer, but no one was drinking it so it would go to waste. Apparently they were told that three barrels would be enough for the weekend?

Didn’t try the bitter that I recall...  I think the one pint I had was the end of the barrel! It was minging! I tipped 3/4 of it it was that bad!!

Beer was poor. And 2CVers will drink anything! Ragnar was telling me in his worse state he drank meths with tinned peaches.

After trying a pint of the bitter on Friday (the American ale was the colour of milky tea!) we stuck to wine.

Interestingly, or tellingly, their website doesn't even mention their beer!

Novel combination.

Apparently you can't drink meths straight, so the alcoholics mix it with the syrup from the peaches.  He said he's not had a drink for seven years now. Has got some liver damage and other issues related to it.

I did have one of their bottles of ale... that was poor too... I did drink it though! I was thirsty! Some other Cheshire Dragons bought bags full of beers from the supermarket for the Saturday!

No, more circulation issues I think. This was all on Sunday night, and supposed to be a light evening, not in-depth deep conversations!

i have just given Carl Baker ( with the clown Car) a 12 point bread down of good and bad issues ( including the bar) to feedback to the next 2cvgb committee meeting.  The bar didn’t bother me too much as our group had pre supplied with beer ( Morrison’s had good offers on fursty ferret etc) and a case of wine.

I’m weird!

But I thought the bitter didn’t taste to bad. A bit like a Scottish beer, with a sweet finish, which is how I like my beer. I also drink a lot of porter, mild and stout, as I don’t this modern beer with 78 varieties of hop. I told you I’m weird. I drink from a tankard, so cannot see if the beer is cloudy.  The porter was minging, who thought to put cinnamon in beer needs shooting. I didn’t try the American Pale Ale, as it looked like a sample. I do know some of the bottled beer was vegan and is naturally cloudy as it doesn’t use fish finning to clear it. This has proved to be controversial as some of the less gifted landlords around our way are serving beer that is cloudy and trying to pass it off as vegan. This doesn’t work if  the brewer is a mate. If the beer was vegan, maybe a note saying it is naturally cloudy would have helped. Mrs Meter Rat said the wine was shit, and was served a glass of red wine instead of rose. They also served me a pint of porter on the Saturday afternoon, instead of the bitter I asked for, when I complained they said they didn’t have any bitter. Why didn’t they just say. They expected me to pay for it, and couldn’t unstandardised why I walked off.

I was was unhappy with the bar, and the way the beer was served. Also the general attitude of the staff was shit. They should have had 12-14 barrels racked off and ready to go. There should have been some pins of Cider and some decent wine. The brewers should have used the event to showcase their products , but they didn’t seam to care. I don’t really think really understood this type of event, or know what they were doing.

Suggest CAMRA members take over this aspect next time?

I know it's nearly a week ago now, but we took the long way home so here are a few more pictures...

There weren't many RWD cars there, in fact I only remember this B2 and the yellow one in the cathedral.2089968322_WalfordsB2andsomeTractions.thumb.jpg.b6206b7447e80f7946cb5fb173ea1f56.jpg

I enjoyed driving the Traction through the chicanes, although I would have packed the wine bottles a bit better if I had known we were going to do that. The clinking was quite loud even though we were trying nowhere near as hard as DW . Never tried the beer tent - we gave up on it on Saturday and then got to know a couple of local pubs. All in all a good weekend - would go again.

Tadhg - do you mind me asking where you found these 100 years stickers? My friends and I were searching for them on the Saturday evening and Sunday, but unable to find them (or, with the rain, people associated with vehicles sporting them).

I and several Citroen owning friends were all hoping to purchase one!

There were a few people on the Farcebook Citroen groups selling them (about £6 each), to the point you could have 'em in almost any colour you wanted, and at least two different sizes.

I couldn't decide which size to have, so bought both. The ones that I put on the wings are the large size.

Citroen also came out with their own official sticker which looked virtually the same as this, except for the bottom line which read "Origins 1919" instead of "1919 Years"
