Scans of old cars from old slides at shows

Page 1 - EPD 739, the big black Daimler saloon - is that Fred West looking under the bonnet? ?  Seriously though, these are abso-bloody-lutely fantastic!  Please keep them coming, Trigger!  Some stuff I never knew existed here.  That RHD Taunus wagon for a start.  This period was definitely the end of 'old money' as far as ownership of cars like RR, Alvis, Jensen, Jag etc was concerned and the start of  the new money.  Particularly loved the AC428 convertible, the AM V8 Volante type things, the Jensen and whoever said the background stuff was equally fascinating was spot on.

Wonder if anyone in the pictures is looking at this thread or if anyone on here recognises anyone in the photos?  Be interesting to find out.  By the way, what was that little red bread van thing on page 2?  Some sort of Commer?

Are the funny little vans with the single headlights electric?
I love the  blue ‘Dorothea Restoration Engineers’ one, particularly with the bored looking apprentice in the passenger seat - I say seat, it was probably a milk crate.
He looks like he’s regretting not working harder at school!
Ti's a thing of beauty this van. But what is it? tapatalk_1558289682661.jpg

This is right royally up my alley - so many excellent spotting/old scans threads on here right now. Thanks for taking the time to upload all this, trigger!

That's quite a different 'before' and 'after' display on this:

At least, I hope it's that way round! Any number plate/tax disc colour experts able to verify this? Or is it a 1970's ringer?!

Citroen Bijou...interesting old thing...guess it was just an old hack then...

Anybody know what the pick-up is in the background of the Mustang pic. It was the first thing I noticed. (Mustangs are Meh...)

Possibly a Hillman Imp going by the door glass area. Would be home made unless it was some unrealized prototype. Rootes did a few things including an estate they never put into production. It is possibly a Husky version cut down with a new rear tub?

How have I missed this thread before?

Might be incredibly sad and check all the regs against DVLA ( I know some have already). One way or another I'm going to look at all the pics right from the first post in detail. The 2+2 E Type VUM 599N from page one still has tax and MoT for a start.

So does BWC 326F the blue MGC

Along with EOP 424L MGB, now red though

1 AAH is now on a Land Rover not an MGB

Bizarrely OJ 3 is now on a 1902 Renault!

PYT 19 is still on the Merc but is SORN

4585 N is now on a Spitfire not a Daimler hearse

AWJ 782 (Railton) is alive and well

OYO 1R (Bentley) is alive and well...and yellow!

WLY 757M Jensen is on SORN

MBD 823P Enfield is on SORN

JNJ 3N Daimler is on SORN

KDX 854 Renault is alive and kicking

Not listing dead ones, but YN 200 Lea Francis being out of tax and MoT in 1980 was a surprise.

1 YWC is on a modern Merc not a Jensen

1800 TU is on a modern Bentley

NWE 8D Jaguar is on the road

5 JYB Jaguar is still alive and well

HCS 72 Jaguar is still with us, apparently 344cc is tugging it up the road (!)

AWW 3 is gone from the Jaguar and on a modern Audi

JOE 248E Alvis managed to last until 11 months ago, but

666 BBM Alvis is on SORN

EPD 739 Daimler is on SORN

LDX 1 has been lost from the Aston and put on a modern Jeep

ME 3000 (AC) is out of MoT since 2015 but is SORN

ODT 922 Renault is on SORN

7007 WA is gone from the Rolls but the modern Jeep that gained it is dead

CD 1 - Modern Merc rather than old Rolls

200 DPL (AC) is alive and kicking

JR 111 is on SORNed Lexus rather than a Silver Ghost(?) - however,

DGW 271 Austin is still trunding along

RYK 2R Aston is still with us too

ABC 1 is off the Roller and on a modern Lexus

XAN 10N the Rolls Hearse is still alive unlike its occupants

That's the 1st page done...

If you look on my Flickr link you'll see I've been sad enough to DVLA check every car!

1800 TU was recently seen in a 1974 film on the BBC archive on Facebook...it adorned a Rolls Royce Carmargue being piloted by Fyfe Robertson. Gist of the film was how far the car had come since the Model T Ford...
