It's seems its rarely simple when you set off for something man. Glad it was all squared up in the end.

You know I'm struggling to think of a collection thats been a dodle maybe I should take up golf.

Eh nah think I'll persevere and the odds say I will get a good one one day haha

Results for the Clio's first UK MOT test. Two broken coil springs and an airbag light. Not bad. (Not thread relevant but garbaldy mentioned it)

Great to meet you as well Gary, good company on a long drive. I'm happy the engine is going to a good home, I'd have been gutted to send it to a regular scrapyard and have that lowish mileage XUD baled.

I look forward to the build thread and trying it out when it's done.

Thats not at all bad, easy fix on springs but what's the verdict with airbag lights these days.

I do hope your not going to hold your breath about getting a shot in the finished van haha

I let the Renault Specialist* sort it out,

£165 including the MOT test, new springs and a replacement seatbelt pretensioner.

Okay I'll keep breathing!

I drove to the yard and unstrapped all four wheels and lifted the back up and dragged it as far back on the trailer as possible then round The side and bingo she's off saves faffing with ramps again

Yup I got to the yard unloaded and realised I never had my wallet to fuel up so unhitched and had to go home and get it,

Damn my ageing brainbox.

A quick update on this as it's been a while,

Firstly we removed this low milage truck engine.

A wee update for those that like frenchies,  After some trailering about and collecting some pallets to stack building materials on the van has been laid up for winter as I'm not sure it would last very long driven up here with the amount of salt chucked about so far this winter.

Engine cranes are excellent.

A quick inspection of what I need to change over and this doesn't exactly look right.

20190821_200440.jpg

Yup thats propper mullerd

20190821_200922.jpg

And the crank pulleys not much better hopefully mine will fit on to replace it.

20190821_202309.jpg

20190821_202319.jpg

Somehow this seems to be rubbing.

20190821_201025.jpg

Yup cover damaged wonder if it's had the pulley go in  the past.

20190821_202415.jpg

With luck all the parts of my engine should be the same so simple swapshop job. Famous last words.

Yup hedgehog bolt threads no wonder the hex head was mullered.

20190821_202630.jpg

Think I will just remove the whole alternator mount too.

20190821_200016.jpg

Oh goody some spares.

20190821_203327.jpg

That sump looks rough and it also is leaking through the rust blobs.

20190821_203701.jpg

Oh I wonder if peugeot used excessive amounts of splodge, looks well glued on anyway.

Arrived at Durham on time and was collected by electricery and as this was my first ever time in a scalextric car it was a real treat, pretty impressive too I might add.

But here's what I came for the dirty dizzler with comically melted style number plate, think this will start a new craze, maybe not then.

Mr one had stuck half a tank of motion lotion so no garage shot,  i paid for the wings as that's mainly what I wanted and then set off saying my goodbyes and motored north up the 68.  where's all the ruddy snow.

Ah there it is over the hill sodin hell no play then.

20200223_131952.jpg

Got home safe and sound and as the mot states it's rather loud really and with that horrible drone, fine once you find a station on the radio though, she's a  nice drive all the same and it does indeed manage triple digits  on the Speedo.

Thanks Mr one it was nice to meet you and have a blether and of course collect the car.

A+ Raffler will buy tickets again.

Wait, you got the radio working?

Yup absolute radio and it's a bit tin caney with the shite old speakers but works okay.

24 minutes ago, Jim Bell said:

Wait, you got it above 80?!

Sure did she's not as quick as the van but does get there eventually, just have to wring it's neck, probably down to the extra weight of the car makes the difference.
