So the way to avoid future pogweasel warranty claims is to paint everything grey?

 

You could be on to something there.

 

I remember silver BL cars of the 80s rotting even quicker than the flat colours.

Allegro Equipe and Mini25 spring to mind.

Most Mini25s didn't make it past the third MOT.

I think certain colours belong on certain cars.

 

There is a particular shade of blue which should only be on an invacar.

 

Bright orange is for Bond Bugs.

 

Harvest gold on anything other than a maxi is wrong.

Glad I’m not the only one who thinks this! Nearly all cars have a colour that they just look ‘right’ in.

 

A few I can think of:

 

Brooklands Green on Triumph Dolomites

Tuscan Blue on early Range Rovers

Russet Brown on late 70’s Minis

Broom Yellow on Fiat Cinquecentos

Mariner Blue on Mk1 Mx5s

Wedgewood Blue on Rover 75s

Fantasia Green on VW Lupos

My old Fiesta was Colorado Red which I always thought suited it, surprisingly it didn't fade especially badly either. The Aquarius Blue my Focus is in looks nice and bright too

In the early 90's we visited an Italian motorbike importer and my then girlfriend (now the current Mrs martc) asked why they where all red. The shame.

 

I left with a Laverda 750 (in red).

There was one of these on this colour in Cannock today.

 

The good lady found my description of it as being ‘old lady piss yellow’ rather amusing.

Seems accurate to me...
