I've noticed that some people on here have imagination, and get through a wide variety of different brands of cars

Then there's me, who after hitting the armagedden button when the 406 threw me a load of urgent work that I didn't have the time or money to perform by it's MOT obtained yet another french car!

My car history really has been a bit samey

2 out of 10 of the above are still alive...

And as of tonight
Citroen ZX (R579SLX)

So over 11 cars, a definite pattern! But I like boring, I like samey, I like reliable*

Current status? Well our very own Bramz7 is somewhere in the north of england (maybe even nearly scotland) delivering a car. At almost possibly maybe 4.30/5pm he will arrive in Derby and collect Bub's ZX. Following a very silent drive to my house in Oxfordshire as the ZX has no radio we shall convey ourselves to his house, and I shall drive home...

Moar later!

Mine were fab tbh, never set an actual foot wrong. Blue one was amazing, lovely interior, shame about the engine and gearbox. 1.9dci and manual 6 speed in the silver one was perfect! real world 55/56mpg with my commute, I got it to 72mpg once after resetting the computer then wafting to port talbot at a very steady speed )averages from reading to almost swindon that weekend)

My shitefest 2018 average was 56.2, a mix of hammering it to derby via tamworth, the most bum shit backroad drive ever from derby to manchester then 65/70 with Ghosty from manc to glasgow, 55mph glasgow to perth etc etc. Even with 20 minutes of significant revving to get the green goddess to fire! 405 by contrast with me is 44mpg. I have no idea how you got it to average at 49mpg bramz!

Buy cheap, be prepared to bin it! SiC gave that excellent advice when I got the blue one and he is 100% right! The engine in the blue one was blowing more oil out that using it... Silver one started not bringing its clutch up and the subframe bushes on the rear would have been a fail too

That's my life regret that is!

No way it was legal, me and a mate bought it back from stoke, I'd have been 17, him 19. DVLA said the cheque had bounced at the post office (this were them days) and could I please post the tax discs back to them etc...

I just farted around with it really then sold it for spares 2 years later, having got into drinking and women and drugs and work...

Had I not been a twat, I could have bought a welder, engine crane, proper tools etc and been a completely different person now!

Ah the memories! I learnt to hate drum brakes on this! Which I rebuilt for no reason and never drove it afterwards

I've always said that with my euromillions win, the first car into my new garage would be a landy of some sort, A because their easy to learn on with 148m to buy tools with behind you and B to finish off my first ever project

Like for Wing and a prayer Land Rover :) and not the Drink or drugs...

looking at the DVLA, it shows up as SORN, do ya think its still out there somewhere? :)

(also noticed it shows made in 1978 but registered in 83, guessing it was ex military?)

It got bought by someone who wanted it for spares/to make a good car, so it wouldnt surprise me if it's out there somewhere, maybe looking like a 110....

It started life in ireland, was bought over and registered in 83, was on the v5

I like the way your car history is a 'bit samey' having gone froma  LandRover via a Puma and XM to a Laguna and a ZX!

I legit just need to own an AX for the mid 90's lineup and a BX for the late 80's. I'll never afford an ok BX but there was a £170 AX on gumtree at the time I got the 406 and I was bloody tempted. I'd want to sit in one first though before committing to it. I fitted in the back of my stepmums G reg one fine, but I would have been 8 or 9...

well if you bought it in 2006 and sold it in 2008, it looks like it soldiered on for a while afterwards last getting an MOT in 2015 it seems :)

I love how "land rover" it looks, proper old work horse, like the one from shaun the sheep

Would have been 2008 - erm, cant remember! I have a pic of my 206 taken before i passed my test from Sept 2010 and it was gone a month or so before that.

I really like the car history threads, especially with French content! Tell us a bit more about them, every car has a story! And enjoy the ZX when it arrives.

Ok then! Landy is pretty much covered, so 206

The car I passed my test in! (well, had at the time, I used the instructors spankers new 2011 fiesta for the test)

My mum insisted on this photo, then barred me from driving the night I passed

Drove alot in it, it was very economical from memory. I lived around the corner from work so it only got used for pleasure. I had my first crash in it and me and a mate put it back together with ebay parts and the back of an axe

It was never the cleanest car, I paid a grand for it from a 'mate' and it had been clocked (although possibly new dials) as it went from 109k in 2006 to 2,900k in 2007

Hey ho! I generally learnt to service on it, clean cars properly on it (I became a paid up member of Detailing World here) and drove it as much as I could.

It had spun it's aux belt pulley and was on ebay for spares or repairs when this happened

Some scumbag lit an estate agents sign and put it by the back wheel... I got properly quizzed about it too by the police as I was at my mates that night (as per every night) and walked back at about 3pm. Stoned off my nut, I said drunk... and I smoke. Are you SURE you didn't flick a fag (no officer, I have my fag walking down Glade Road etc). Got dropped in the end and apparently they found the kid who did it and moved him out of the area.

Either way, I called the first number in the local paper that would lift it asap for free and it went. Stepdads car hung around for about a month whilst his lease company faffed about, it STUNK!

And that was the end of the 206! I've got the key still hung up in the shed, the blade's gone quite rusty and the LED no longer LED's when I push a button.

The Puma then!

My dad bought me this, back when his business was going well and I think he promised his admin assistant he would sell her partners car for him.... Luckily all this happened when the 206's aux belt stopped turning (which didn't help my questioning from the police as to why I conveniently had the 206 uninsured and SORN and a new car being collected...)

I got the train to peterborough for the last time picking this up, I've driven ever since. Test drive was quick and along very congested roads, and here she was outside my stepmums shop

It was GREAT FUN, I did really love it tbh! I met Amy when I had it, and she used to nick it all the time too. I did quite alot of mechanicals too, brakes all round, thermostat blew, replaced the clutch etc (farmed the clutch job out though)

I also got even deeper into detailing world

I attended my first owners club meet (fun drive but boring company, the FRP driver was fit though)

post-5612-0-01063400-1551815130_thumb.jpg

Of course I spent the week before cleaning it

post-5612-0-00354000-1551815156_thumb.jpg

And spent most of the day driving about 300 miles listening to banging trance (sub in the back) and smoking spliffs. Thoroughly enjoyable day!

But then, the exhaust fell apart, the battery was dying to the point where anything longer than 48h would require a jump, the engine stalled if the air con was on at idle and on it's last MOT with me they filled the rear arch with silicone and hammered the sharp bits in.... So I broke it for spares and made about £600 on the bits I sold! I also found some rust...

It made it's final trip to ASM on the back of a borrowed trailer with amys brother in law towing it with his navara

I did have the key from it for a while, but then some blokes in a transit snapped their key in the lock (and they weren't nicking it as they turned up in it the day before! They were working in the hotel we shared a car park with). Good old ford key opened the door and started the van (with their key taped to the back of it) so I let them keep it! Had the metal gearknob for ages but I think I've chucked that now, only for ford bonnet badge remains in a box somewhere

Would have another tbh! There's one cheap within 30 miles from me as it popped up in a search I did sunday night, but even from the shit photo's the arch looked fucked, and by the time it looks fucked on the outside, its fucked on the inside!
