Ooooh that's a cracker.

We're looking to move to Europe in the next 2 years or so, most likely Spain or Portugal. Is it still the case out there that you can buy a car from anywhere in the bloc and re-register it quite easily?

A friend of mine used to do this frequently as he reckoned older cars were way cheaper in Germany than in Portugal where he lived. As he worked offshore he'd simply fly into Germany from the rig, but the pre-agreed car and drive it home over a few days/sometimes "a 1'nner" depending upon where in Germany it was but I've lost touch with him.

I have updated your question about a possible move to Spain. If you go to live there then post about importing a car. It can be done, but with a lot of paperwork.

"we have owned for 3 years"

Erm, is that meant to be a selling point!? Because I don't think it is!

"Very well cared for" - fucking liar!

If you're after an EP3 Civic that's had literally zero maintenance for the last 3 years and a budget of £1700, you're in luck!

I remember looking at a very worn out Merc ML270 and the seller enthusiastically telling me he’d never opened the bonnet in 4 years, he was soooo disappointed when I didn’t buy

What the whole car?

Trendy + Coffee + Cyclists can you get a worse combo?

Heh, that's my old DS.  It's never actually been a Tour de France press car, it was painted up like that after I sold it.

Also, HFM???

Not as pristine as one would expect from an 8k miles, £5k car. Allthough to be fair, these usually started to rot within two minutes or so.

That's identical to the one I bought at auction in 2001, although that had rather higher mileage at 29K and was a bit less rusty.  I paid £10 for it.

Pre-facelift Xsara. Always had a weird fondness for these.

Lovely cars the pre facelifts. Nicely proportioned. Used to be on owned by a lady across the street from me,  Think their biggest issue was that the Mk1 Focus came out at the same kinda time and it instantly just made everything else in that sector look old fashioned. The facelift looked like a desperate attempt to introduce some shock factor.... kinda ruined the lines. The pre facelift has aged really nicely.

I'm sure it's been said here before, but there's more than a few chancers about who seem to think that rarity equals desirability.

Oh I have no doubt he's a bit of a wannabe trader, description shows that he probably knows little about the car unfortunately. That will be kicking around for a while
