Right Hand Drive, so LHD-o-phobes will have to think of different excuses.

I hadn’t noticed before, but the glasshouse on those has a distinct Mk2 Granada look to it:

I assume there are no interchangeable parts though.

I think that shape Monarch/ US Granada predates the Mk2 Granny by a couple of years, they were going for a Euro look though , as can be seen by the ads of the time. I remember the Mark2 being compared to the W126 and W123 by the press at launch too.

Personally I think both you and the copywriters would benefit from a drive in a Disco Sport, to Barnard Castle!

Buy that Monarch which was twice the price and half as good as a Granada Ghia and Ford managed to sell about 4 and then buy this for the Mrs, twice the price and half as good as a 3.0 Capriand Ford managed ... you know the rest

Wow I either didn't know or had forgotten how many variants of the CIH they did back then! Let's list them;

1.3, 1.6, 1.9, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 (4-pots)

2.5, 2.6, 2.8, 3.0 (6 cyl)

Can we count the Lotus as a very heavily revised/distant relative? How about the Manta 400 16v?

As an old Opel and rally perv I'm fairly sure the Ascona/Manta 400 engine was a special built on a diesel block.
