I think that shape Monarch/ US Granada predates the Mk2 Granny by a couple of years, they were going for a Euro look though , as can be seen by the ads of the time. I remember the Mark2 being compared to the W126 and W123 by the press at launch too.

Personally I think both you and the copywriters would benefit from a drive in a Disco Sport, to Barnard Castle!
