Are you new round here?

That’s how it is/was. Why buy locally when the handicap of distance is there to be overcome and also brings adventure ? Why buy a good example when there are far, far worse available?

Local cars in lovely condition rarely make for great reading IMHO.

Straight six, fine, I ain't no V8 snob

I didn't know they made them with I6's. I thought 64 was the last of the mileage maker 6. Didn't Ford stick the Y Block in some Canadian models. I'm of to google this.

Rare Simca, they want £3000 - £4000 for it which is ambituous:

I'm sure this featured on the thread last year(there can't be 2 frilly metallic blue RHD Simca wagons in the UK), given the amount of work needed and the non-existent Simca 1501 licker market outside of AS it is rather salty.

Every day’s a school day.

I briefly got excited about this, with a 99p start:

The car was in very good condition before the fire.

Ah. Bugger. So was Notre Dame.

Brodie's would probably be able to get that back on the road. Would cost arm and a leg, though.

Funnily enough I had a dream last night that I had bought two fire-damaged SMs and was having them rebuilt into a replica Chapron Opéra saloon.

(I was somewhat richer in my dream than I am in real life.)
