£325 p/a road tax.

I'm out.

Why?

That's 350 for the car, 325 for the tax, 325 for the insurance. On the road for £1000.

Assume 10k a year the tax and insurance account for 6.7p a mile.

There's no depreciation.

Or buy a car for £2k with zero tax and loose 350 quid  a year ?

It's all the same.

shame about that split in the drivers seat, and would an 850 really have had a fancy chrome grille when new?

still lovely though.

Mainly because I could buy any number of similarly priced and sized motors for the same, or less (GMs almera for instance), that won't ream me on road tax.

You won't find me disagreeing on the depreciation bit. A cost few consider.

for twice as much money as the Ital, the far better looking Marina,

my father had one when i was small. it was crap  (a mark 1 1800 super in Vamillion) in a rusty sortta way, but it took us to see Nana, shopping, on holidays and the like without fail for the better part of 5 years.

so it wasn't that crap after all!

I think it’s a lot tax wise for such a basic cheap crap car.

A very quick search finds this cracking little Astra, https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201905017526639?advertising-location=at_cars&price-to=1000&postcode=dy33bu&page=1&co2-emissions-cars=TO_120&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used

£30 tax and 50mpg, I know where I’d spend my money
