I know someone who has a very early 4.2 litre of those, last I knew of it it was suffering from an endless list of niggles and problems and spent half its time in workshops - presumably any hideously complicated luxury car of this era (7-series, XJ6 etc) in less than immaculate condition must be getting to the point of being an unviable ownership prospect. Mind you, it was very comfortable to ride in the back though.

That Audi A8, If any of you watch that Strippers - cars for cash program they bought one of those for around £1000, stripped it down and made a lot of money out of it, You could buy that A8 above for say £400 and with a small bit of work make £1000 on it I'd say.

The curret owner was keen to pour some TLC on this car and bring it up to standard as a very good example of its breed, however shortly after aquiring it a vehicle parked next to it in a carpark caught fire and actually melted the rear wrap around bumper on the drivers side near the taillights. It is not too severe as you can see in the photo, but will need a new rear bumper. This has led to a loss of interest in continuing with this car and he has asked me to fid it a new home.

Eeek. I just had to phone the dealer about this to break the news that it's actually got about 100k miles on it, as I uncovered it's colourful past when I bought it as a £500 turbo failure. The speedo readout is perfectly believable because it's such a clean car, but it's had two intrument panels fitted, reverting back to zero each time. Poor guy had no idea, goodbye profit.
