It's possibly a 1974 and imported into the UK in 1979.

Yeah I figured but the logbook says declared manufactured 1964

Not much '64 bug there. Big give away is the four bolt wheels which first appeared in 1968. The doors look mid 1970s by the chrome handles on the inside. Front seats are usual early 1970s, as is steering wheel and black switch gear on the dash. It does have an internal fuel filler and the speedo and fuel gauge are '64ish. I think that bug was built by Heinz (57 Varieties), even the engine has a mix of parts from various years..

Ladies and gentlemen, I think I have now seen it all...

So here we have a 2015 Vauxhall "Mdjgdhajs" (?)

The van is complete, working perfectly and [has a] good engine

I wonder what van it is though...

Ah, so it's a Vivaro. Ok. But what's going on in those photos?

Erm, right, ok then

Photos taken at the scene of an RTC, most likely sans insurance...

🤦😂😂

Yeah, it’s 10k and it’s obviously fucked, but wouldn’t it be worth it to see the staff at the tip quivering with rage when you pulled up and started unloading? “What mate? It’s not a van…”

Ok, it obviously wouldn’t be worth it, but it’s a nice idea.

Yeah, that’s a real bitzer.  Fuel tank is pre-68 and there’s no fuel flap on the front quarter panel but the rear valance is definitely a later car despite its earlier engine lid.

Looks mostly early ‘70s but backdated in places as was the fashion in the late ‘80s.

I’ve owned a lot of aircooled VWs over the years and seen hundreds close up.  They built them well in Wolfsburg but usually very badly in a bloke’s shed.

Edit: wouldn't suprise me if the mileage really is 21.915 instead of 121.915. That interior seems mint!

Bloody lovely that, could be a right bargain for someone.

That's a proper weirdo, not a '74 body as it doesn't have the half-moon vents behind the rear side windows. It could, possibly be a '65 model body built in late 64 but there ain't a lot of it left now, almost certainly not the floorpan which is the bit the ID belongs to anyway.

More likely it's a complete mongrel late 60's - early 70's car with a dodgy logbook and the fuel filler welded up and an earlier fuel tank fitted, I think I'm right in saying the 65-67 cars are completely flat in the area below the front windscreen, 68 on there's a sort of channel between the rear edge of the bonnet and the bottom of the screen - as here. It also has 68-on bonnet release from inside the car

Anyway. It's not a great example!

Sold already, unsurprisingly.  Probably a good thing as I was about to do something stupid...

I have a super soft spot for old JDM Kei cars

I considered buying this when it was listed about a year and a half ago, before the current owner bought and modified it. It was mostly stock back then, I was put off by the terrible state of the rear arches - full of rust and wob. From the description in the photos I'm guessing they are in the same state or worse underneath the bolt-on plastic.

Here's an old Retro Rides thread on the car that I found when I was researching it. Explains the "+ MOTOCOMPO" on the plates.

As an aside, it's neither JDM nor a kei car - sold new in the UK and 1.2l!
