By current pricing this looks a bargain for an original looking Mini with MOT!

The earlier ones were nicer with 10” wheels but this does look good to me and panels are cheap and easily available.

Very tempting.

I went to Donnington for the Mini 25 event, in my R16 TS. Gearbag issues on way home though.

As a thank you to those AS members who reacted to my post on the "Weird/Unpolular opinions" thread on the Open Subforum, I thought I should post this. Almost lost to banger racers ffs.

My post from that thread: "I think the 1995-98 Ford Scorpio looks alright"

I do wonder what they are like to maintain, are they any easier to look after, or just as much of a bastard as a full length thing?

Only way to find out is to obtain it. 🙂

+1, although instead of 'alright' I'd say 'interesting'. I like them but then I'm a sucker for a barge with a non-premium badge on it.

I also love prog rock

This is the definition of Autoshite, the car that nobody loved!

Scimitar SS1

Seems like a genuine ad and looks in nice condition and I like the colour. I believe this was the faster engine of the ‘early’ models as the other was a 1400?

"I left her too long and the battery went flat. After recharging the Immobiliser developed a fault (diagnosed on a proper code reader) and the car will not start at all"

£500, Feb MoT

My ML did the same and that met its death for me although to repair it was between £150-300 depending on where you looked.

It was apparently another (shock /horror) dismal bit of design work from Mercedes of this era in that if your battery wasn't quite charged enough, churning it over let the voltage drop and spiked the current to this module causing it to fail. Fucking dreadful.

This was exactly what happened to mine, I kept churning it over when it wasn't quite enough to start it, couldn't be arsed to get the booster pack and thought maybe leaving it for 5 mins would let the battery cool a bit too give it one more try and then that happened.

Previously it had always started fine but then I'd always used a booster on it.

Seems it was a common issue and this seller doesn't appear to be lying in that respect.

@Yoss, just book the MoT on your side of the water and nip across and fetch it

That does sound like the only way to do it. The advert says it will need trailering away but the cost of a return ferry fare for a car and trailer will make it uneconomical bearing in mind the state of the arches. They could put an MOT on it themselves otherwise it will only sell to someone else on the island which is rather restrictive.
