'fraid so!  See also Polos of that era (although I think they might squeak into the £220 band)

Those are the 1.4 16v models. The 1.4 16v Fabias are £220 too.

1.4 and £265 tax! Surely that's not right!?

Only for the 8v sadly. :(

Could be worse... we had one in our department at An Northern Council, in which the department manager's son had spilt diesel while he was stealing it (the diesel, not the van). Three or four years later it still smells a bit, though nowhere near as bad as it used to, but fortunately it's moved sideways to a different department as well.

Fortunate for two reasons; the smell, and the fact that this is one of the worst vehicles I have ever had the misfortune to drive, in terms of the controls and driveability. Even a Mk1 Corsa Combo is better. Probably even Iv*co's are better.

Pov-ish spec Fabia. Base spec engine and trim, but ASR. Odd. 65k miles. £990. 'Timing Chain Rattle' - normal for these fuckers.

67bhp, £265 tax and 39mpg combined... Wtf! how did they manage to fuck that one up so badly!? wasn't the idea of a city car to sacrifice performance for economy, but they seem to have managed to sacrifice both with the 1.4 8v! I knew they were bad, but not that bad!

Old engine from the Felicia dragged kicking and screaming to Euro 3/4 (?) spec and failed miserably. Apparently quite decent torque for a piddly wee piece of crap. The 1.2 engines were designed with the Fabia in mind as a replacement for the 1.4 OHV 8v.

Oh yeah, OHV as well, can imagine that sounds lovely at high revs!

V6 Laguna, lowish mileage but...

Quote

Timing Belt -
Not having any service history, I managed to get into contact with another previous owner of the car (3rd hand), and was told it hasn't been changed. There are kits sold online starting from around £250 if this is something you want to renew.

During the ownership of that PO, or never changed at all?

Nice enough car, but....

Wooly bullshit translator:

"Has only done 10k miles since 2007"

Meaning:

"Hasn't had a service since 2007" - isn't due for one m8

At least they're upfront about the cambelt. And £280 from ECP for a cambelt kit. 'kinell!
