Shonky Rover Metro - £250

"Is warm, dry, comfortable and handles well"

Eh, what! Weren't we talking about a Metro here!?

That statement doesn't carry quite as much weight when it's spent 4 of those years off the road...

"There is nothing seriously wrong with it in spite of its lack of MOT"

Yeah right, ok m8 we'll just ignore the big fat failure list 👍

To be fair that list isn’t horrendous. New tyres, bulbs, rear wheel cylinders and a couple of bushes basically. Still cheap for a running M-reg motorcar in 2022 AD isn’t it?

Ok horrendous is a stretch, but it could turn into a shitshow with brake pipes when doing the cylinders and I wouldn't imagine the rear bushes will be a walk in the park

Yeah, and to be fair I can’t even be arsed to fit the new number plates on my 100e at the moment, so I can’t talk 😂

For a thirty year old car which has sat around for four years, there's nothing particuarly alarming on that list. The key thing is there's no mention of creeping gingerness, which is virtually unheard of on a Metro. Someone buy it!

Had a video chat with the seller, it appears to be pretty rough. Rust on both front arches and the driver door. Rear bumper needs a respray. Bunch of lights on the dash, cluster had been replaced before. Also exhaust got replaced, cats are missing. No MOT now.

It's clearly been loved for a long time but as usual, the last two owners didn't give it the attention it needed and it just seems to have gotten neglected. The owner knows of the faults and wants the car to be in good hands but the ad is not telling the whole story, otherwise I would have bought it.

Naturally he already got a million messages from the typical drift/banger racing/engine donor idiots.

Has this been on yet?

Absolutely wonderful* BTCC replica* except it’s a 3.2 Litre of course, and it has a conventional dash board, required for the odd road trip I guess
