Ah yes, hadn't considered that (I should have though with the clue being the fact it's stuck in 5th gear 🤦 obviously that wouldn't be the case with a CVT!) I'm not overly knowledgeable on automatic Rovers as I've never had one, or worked on one's transmission. I only knew that a rover with a malfunctioning CVT is usually bad news! In that case maybe repairable in the hands of a bog standard autobox specialist, but then again it's a scruffy 45 with 140k miles, possibly needing the belts done too, with a few days MOT ...
