K reg madness. ( @egg )

I reckon it'd be quite satisfying - detwatting it.  Stupid wheels in the nearest canal, stupid exhausts getting stamped on repeatedly.  Likely to need a tickle here and there but viable.

The problem?  At £350 - it's going racing if you're not quick.

Pretty sure that's the one that used to live near me. I don't do facefook so it doesn't come up.

Look you lot, somebody do me a solid and buy this thing so I don't have to, yeah?

Now, you know I HAT Fr0ds because I'm a sophisticated gent and they're cars for knuckle-draggers BUT these things are so WEIRD MAN! Only built for two years, they were rare when they were new but were supposedly loads better than the Mk3 and supposedly go and handle really well. I love the mishmash styling, and the interior looks pretty mega. This one has a clean MoT until July and, although it has a few crusty bits, I reckon would respond really well to some fairly minor cosmetic fettling. Put it away in a nice dry barn and cash-in in a few years when this model is totally extinct. It's £500 and just up the road from me. C'mon!

The masochist in me would STILL prefer a MK6 Escort Estate than a MK1 Focus Estate - despite them being worse by every single yardstick.

Controversially, I actually like the Mk6 Escort. Particularly in estate form. I wouldn't mind an estate for the lugging stuff to the tip and that.

The only (vaguely) fathomable reason it's advertised for £7,999 is possibly because Annie Lennox and Brian May have been on holiday in it

I realise this is no longer the case but my mind a mk5 or mk6 escort should never exceed £500. I listen to a pod cast were the host asks the guest what one car would you have for the rest of the life and you can have a £500 banger on the side for the dogs and going to the dump.  I always see a mk6  escort estate in my minds eye.  I recon a 1.8 zetec would be pretty nice but a 1.3 encore would be abject misery.

There was a 1.4 bASe spec Fabia Classic on AutoTrader a wee while ago with EHMAHGERD HGF for £495. A wee bit crusty in at the sills but only done 38k, Weegie registered too. If I could be arsed/had the skills for changing a head gasket then it would have been tempting.

Sit down, breathe deep in and out. Sleep on it.

Isn't that the one which used to be on here? Edit, @jmsguzzi's old one was identical looking but a different one...

Assuming it's the 8v engine they're a piece of piss.  I'm a cack-handed idiot and I managed to change the head gasket on my Felicia in an afternoon.  (Although I did snap a head bolt but we won't talk about that.)

If the price of that is anything to go by then I chronically undersold mine. My old one looks like this now:

Wow,  on paper that shouldn't work, but in reality it looks pretty good! I see it failed mot in December... hopefully the owner will retest at some point.

Think he’s sorting it over winter, saw him post on the Lancia Thema consortium group looking for a front subframe a few weeks back, he seems a good lad and the mods are tasteful. Used it as his wedding car and his late grandfather had one so probably has a lot of sentimental value to him.

That's good news. It looked a really genuine example and infinitely cleaner than the one shared on here recently. The fact he used it as his wedding car instantly ups the sentimentality stakes too!
