Interesting car. Who's selling?

"Hello and welcome to my auction..."

Ah, driveway trader, ok. Looks tidy.

"I honestly cannot stress how good a condition this car is in. It truly is a credit to its former keeper."

Do tell me more.

"The previous owner said the temperature gauge had gone to hot once or twice in his ownership but has never done it for me and all the levels have been absolutely fine and the gauge has never gone above half way. "

Mmm-hmm, so you're saying it doesn't overheat in the winter?

"Sorry to mention again but as it’s a 31 year old car so no warranty will be given
So sold as seen"

Ah ok, that's reassuring, thanks. I'll think about it.

That's got to be VFM for someone who wants a tat hauler, and it's got the right engine.

I’ve just worked out that I’m covering 20,000 miles a year, I should probably sack off the RAV4 at its 45mpg and get one of these at 60+ mpg

3 door is slightly more interesting than the 5 door and the 1.4 diesel can be cheaply mapped to 120bhp.  But by Christ silver paint does nothing for it🙁

I fair fancied a 5 door one of those. Cheaper to insure than my Fabia and it's 1.2 with the 1.6 pez in the Corolla I think. Was a black one too.

Apparently the last series of Corolla before they introduced the Auris is a good drive.  Of course it’s all relative and when you’re gently dozing on the commute to work you just want something that’s quiet and got the armrest roughly where your elbow lands.

Yep, I do a bit of both gentle cruising and an often spirited drive. I've got an armrest fitted to my Fabia as well though. 😎

The Auris wasn't bad either, we had a face-lift 2010 (the bulbous one) and it was nice with the 1.6 VVT-I.

£25,000. Twenty five thousand fucking quid.

'I drove it from Brighton to Exeter with my foot to the floor on the motorway at 80mph'

I bet it took the full length of that journey to achieve that speed, those 2.4 engines are wheezy buckets of shit in a standard van, let alone a 192,000 miles Luton.

That doesn't look right.
