1976 Granada 2000 GL with 12k miles.  :)

Looks like an interesting resto project. 40 years ago my late parents owned a 1976 2000 L which was specced like a GL. It had the fog lights, chrome wheel rims and a black vinyl roof (diamond white paintwork).

I keep looking at this, it is my sort of car, lovely colour too but I suspect they want an awful lot of money and I am a tightwad. POA means that if you have to ask the price then you cannot afford it. If it had tan interior though I would be on the phone to them.

I constantly want various cars that are for sale. And this is one of them now. 1959 Opel Rekord van these are among the best looking vans ever made. And this one has a wonderful tired look, the rust must be done something with apart from this, do not paint!

I grew up with these as 2 uncles are active in the Norwegian PV / Duett club and have owned and restored several over the years. And a 3 uncle had a 1962 model of these as his only car and daily well into the 2000s. Last year as daily, it was driven to the other side of the country and back with only a window wiper motor as the only problem not bad for a then 40+ year old car with over 700,000 km on it. It was subsequently restored and is still alive. These are hardy and extremely good cars.

It is also a 1957 PV 444 for sale at the same price as the one above

Had that 8v twink in a transit and really liked it. Less so the fuel bill when fully loaded with motorbikes and family tugging a caravan from London to Wales, though to be fair it would still pull 80 on the flat and broke a ton less laden. Miss that van. The picture in my mind of it sitting on the depollution ramps still brings a tear.

I had a couple of smiley Transits with that engine.  A blue SWB which would do the ton, and a white LWB high top minibus which wouldn't, but would out-accelerate most vans up to about 70.  That one went to purplebargeken and ended up with Arthur Foxhake.  Neither was an economical vehicle.

I then had a Mk6 Transit with the later 2.3 twin cam - that thing absolutely flew.

Happy 2022. I'll add to the Ford DOHC conversation by throwing in my 1990 Scorpio auto. Not fast but it was reliable and reasonably economical for a big car. I seem to remember it having a sophisticated (for its time) engine management system, much more so than the older V6. It was quiet too.

Don't you remember that in 1985 all new cars were supplied with some bonnet compost and a smashed NSR window?
