Tis worth noting that the historic tax and historic MOT exemption are 2 separate things, because there operated by 2 different departments DVLA vs the DVSA the rolling historic tax rolls forward every finical year, but the MOT exemption happens the moment the Vehicle is in itself 40 years old so for example although not yet £NIL tax eligible as the financial year is yet to end, a vehicle built on the 5th of November 1981, is MOT exempt as it is now over physically over 40 years old, so you still have to pay the standard road tax, but you can present a V112 at the post office when doing so instead of having to produce a MOT pass certificate it one of those little things that a lot of people dont realise!
