Cool,  but expensive for a fairly undesirable car that looks dog rough.

Yes the majority of these were scrapped by about 1966...we used to play in a derelict  one as kids. Totally undesirable family cars once the era of the 2nd hand Cortina etc arrived.

Bodywork by Raymond Loewy's studio -  very up to date on its 1948 introduction  but hampered by antedeluvian mechanics.

Not for nothing were these known as the Lumber Hawk.

I like them - but I also like garden fetes and Miss Marple.

Oh, I want it badly. I've a hankering for some proper post-war porridge.

It just looks like the sort of car thats had a "wee tidy up" with 20 tins of Isopon...

Hot damn!! Another refugee from London too. I thought these came standard with the same steels wheels as the XS.

These wheels can be seen on some period press photos as well, so I guess they're original (but perhaps optional?).

Yep, they were an option on the GT I think. I much prefer the XS steels. That one does look pretty great although it seems like a lot of money to me.

Here's another nice 205. This is exactly what I want to do with my one - XS wheels, body-coloured high-spec valances etc. Looks like a really neat little thing

It's a phase 1 so you get the nice early dashboard etc, too

Admittedly it's the 1124cc motor so all show and no go, but I still really like it. A reasonable £1500 to looks like the coolest kid in school.

That was a recurring theme with British stuff in the late '40s though - Morrises Minor and Oxford and Hillman Minx were similarly afflicted.  At least Vauxhall and Austin had overhead valve engines, but about the only mechanically "modern" car was the Jowett Javelin.

What's in tomorrow Manor Park Classics auction?

Drive like you're the AS admin:

Reasonable value Estelle or whatever these were called, better than ebay prices and in better nick.

Try convincing a divorce court that the reason behind your separation was that you splurged the kids' nest egg on a 3000 mile Astra E estate.

The 3.5 Seven Series is my favourite BMW model. The big straight six, quad round headlights, perfect proportions.

This is a Japanese export, so parking wand and CLOTH. In a seven series!

No airbags, may even be ABS free!

I think I want it just for the door cards.

£10k is a lot of money for one of these, but it is tempting.  https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202110188606114

Not car related, but keeps coming up on my Faceache.

Signed by Kenny Morgan and Albert Scanlon, apparently, who survived the crash.

Imagine having the pure brass balls to ask those two men to sign the print of the crash they survived but lost their friends in, and then selling it for £45.

I agree. A high point in BMW design. Pretty much all downhill from there

Had this one yet?

https://www.gumtree.com/p/rover/rover-2000-sc-auto-1972-1978-cc-/1419236286

1974 Rover P6 2000 SC - £2,500 'needs work'. I did ping the seller but she said she wasn't sure what needed done as she's not a car person but welcome to come and look.

Unfortunately Mrs Welded here said 'Non'. So I never asked any further....

So if anybody down near Brecon????

Mitsuoka Ray. This looks like the terrible offspring of a Micra, Wolseley and a Bini. Gopping.

1997 Mitsuoka Ray 650cc Auto - Rare Import JDM KEI car Mazda based - Long MOT (ebay.co.uk)

I'm 90% sure that was for sale a month or two ago, for around £1800 - £2k (Just listed badly) with a short MOT and needing  good clean.

I really like this, but not £3250 amount of like!

On the plus side, it still looks like one of the baddies' spaceships from Battlestar Galactica. Definitely* has a spot in my dream (deranged) fantasy 20 car garage.

Can confirm a 480 can be lovely car to own! Just a. don't expect it to be a sports car, and b. some specific parts are rather expensive/hard to find.

Opel Ponzi, auction starts at £1k but might reach 5 figures at a guess. Digital dash probably doubles the price.

It does have a very comprehensive description but I don't think much of this:

"it does look sound underneath too, floorpan etc - we have had it on a ramp, just didn't have a phone to take pics"

EDIT: Forgot link. Curiously the start price is now £500,000.
