I'm with you. That's a real Lotus. Carltons rust plenty, but the particular rust here is characteristic of a Lotus. I'd like to see the area where the transmission tunnel joins the rest of the floorpan. If I recall correctly, the transmission tunnel was a custom piece (to take the six speed Corvette gearbox that was wide) and the old one was cut out, new one welded in and just Hammerited. I could be wrong, that's just what I've heard.
