hard to think that these are now a "classic car"

i cannot thing though when i last saw one on the road, which must be one of the qualifications needed for "classic status"

and why the hell can i never ever come across something like this?

what a super horrid period colour-

i love it!

May be an image of car and outdoors

and i even quiet like the rosyle wheels, as usually i HATE "aftermarket" wheels on old cars, but those still kinda work.

even better the original wheels and various hubcaps are included, so if you get fed up of the rostyles, the car comes with alternatives.

Me and a mate went off on a wild goose chase to darkest rural Suffolk nearly twenty years ago to have a look at one of those (actually having read the description, very possibly this one) and I can't believe how much it's deteriorated in that time. The price was a third of that too..

The phone rings. It's 11pm and I wouldn't normally pickup but I vagualy recognise the number so I answer it.

The conversation is brief but in that moment I realised this is probably going to be one of the longest nights of my life. I get up and dress quickly downing some  stale coffee I find on the bed side cabinet to try to cancel out the cheap whisky I was drinking earlier.

I jump in the car I'm quickly moving  through the back lanes with the headlights piercing into the darkness.  The caller had been brief "I may have found what you're looking for but you need to come quickly".

Could it really be happening after all this time? Having put the word out years ago that I was looking for a rare open top sports car for a client in the middle east I'd had nothing for the last 3 years. This car was an incredibly special  open top development car for the UK side of the GT40 project. Was I really about to make the deal that would change my life? I'd finally be free my gambling debts and be able to provide a decent home for my ex-wife and kids.

I pulled up outside the barn. A burly young man stood in the doorway the light streaming past him into the darkness of night.

I jumped from the car and moved towards him. He came closer and whispered "I think found what you're looking for, it's in there under the white cover.".

I could hardly breath as I walked into the barn the bright lights making it hard to focus. I caught a glimpse of the cover.

141161592_10159495231757856_836492042651

I pull back the cover and I say to the burley man "this..this is Ford escort not a GT40 prototype".

His eye brows furrow and he growls "It is a GT40. It's got no roof, fuel injection and a Ford badge on it". "I'll tell you like I told the giant talking bunny over there it's a G T fucking 40"

He jumps in the car and starts making broom broom noises.  "Get in the car he says and I'll show you what she can do"

Eh, No thanks I reply.  "I wasn't fucking asking he says, get in the car".   I turn and start to run and I hear the car crank over. It tries to splutter to life but dies immediately. I can hear the man howling as the engine cranking slows and the starter gets stuck in the fly wheel. I think to myself those Escorts really are shite.

I jump in my car an drive as fast as I can thankfull I'm still breathing. I stop a few miles, away pull out my phone and write the most important note of my life "Never visit Cumnock again"

these are a really great car. sadly though like most things that i really like its well and truly outta my price range!

That is nice but I would have thought anything above 3.5k for a Cavalier would be asking too much

With those wheels it could actually pass for a Hot Hatch attempt, if you didn't see someone loading shopping into it

Cheap early Touareg in Aberdoom.  Plenty of test but leaking water - it's the old 5-pot TDI though so shouldn't  be a difficult fix.

I didn't know you could even get those with a manual box!

There's been a lot of interest from the CCC Farcebook page, but the general view there is that this one is overpriced by about 2.5 bags.

I think it is the R5 also fittedin T5s that's half a V10. Not a bad motor but has a few issues and definitely not as simple as the old 5 pot.

I have one in my van, it's been good touch wood.

Registered office is a pub? Only up the M1, so might drive up there and have a look....

eBay sez "this item is no longer available". Probably the Chinese complained....

Change your name to Maurice Garagiste Rover by deedpoll; the shysters won't be able to get you then!*
