Geartronic seems flaky because they’re sealed for life, but really shouldn’t be. I’m fine with a manual, so no problem. Diesel engines are either a Euro3 or Euro4 and while the later one can make more power (163bhp or 185bhp) they are also a bit more troublesome. Euro3 is more reliable and does a bit more to the gallon too. It makes 163bhp as well and both versions can be badged the same - 2.4 D5. I’m reasonably sure that the best way to tell them apart is that the Euro4 engines have a silver cover on the engine while the Euro3 has a black cover. Euro4, bad: Euro3, good: I’m caught between really enjoying the research, feeling an utter tool for enjoying it and obviously still wondering if changing cars is even a good idea.
