Lovely looking MK2, it's reasonable money compared to the scene tax that MK2s usually attract.

seems very original and I hope some yob doesn't go and squeeze a 20v 1.8t into it.

Some snapshots cos faceache won't let me save the photos.

I do not understand at all why people hide numberplates. What are you afraid of? Your crooked MOT history being researched? Or is there some elusive car identity theft going on from photos? There's nothing to stop me printing any numberplate and sticking it on my car and running some speed cameras or petrol stations. If there really was an issue it would be generic cars that get numberplate cloned. I probably see 10 white new Fiestas a day which could all be sharing numberplates. I haven't seen a grey escort in years. There really can't be much of a market for it.

Or have I missed something?

But generally for me, hidden numberplate on ebay is a no fly zone.

I always hide the numberplate when selling on eBay or Gumtree.  But then I have been a victim of number plate theft and cloning and I know how much hassle it is to get the powers that be to believe that it wasn't really you who drove past that speed camera at 30mph over the limit.

Someone saw my 306 on Gumtree years ago and MILF'd (or whatever you call it) a petrol station in Peterborough, I think.

MILF'd made Oi larf.... the word you were looking for is Bilked.  Apparently the offence was so named because of the sitcom character Sergeant Bilko.

That's first-hand proof that Ford designed the swage line on Mk1 Fiestas as a two-tone rot-hiding tidemark limit. You'd honestly never* guess that the bottoms of the sills, doors, rear quarters and tailgate were wobbed to within an inch of their life as the tidemark really does make all the wobbly, crusty bits invisible.

the white one rolls, good mechanics, without rear seats and split windshield without Cg (lost) by the former owner.

The green one is complete except the cylinder head and the corroded front spar, with Cg.

I'm selling both for € 750, which is the price I paid for them two years ago.

I really want a Dyane, and I might even be able to afford this one (probably not though). How hard would it be to build a Dyane from bits if you don't know your way around one?

If I had to choose a car to build from a box of bits it'd probably be an A-series Citroën.

Yep, my kid sister had that happen to her. She didn't even notice it until I mentioned it to her either (how?!): when she reported it to plod (she and her husband were in a pub at the time), they told her she couldn't drive the car until it had the correct plates restored. Her husband quickly disavowed plod of that idea and invited them to follow them to Halfords via home to pick up the V5, but oddly enough they declined. A *lot* of notices of intention to prosecute appeared before the perps got nicked: speeding fines, failure to pay at petrol stations etc.

That is extremely good value.  If I were you (and you were me) you'd knock on the door, give him £300 and then stick it up on Autotrader for just under £1k.  Then, with that money, buy yourself some car parts and your wife some petrol station flowers.
