I could imagine some sort of V6 out of a Rover 75 being forced into the engine bay (No idea how) but a poxy 1.4 out of a polo? Not worth the effort. Before you can get someone to weld-up* your two ends of previously unrelated drive shaft, you have to work out EXACTLY how long the finished assembly has to be which is not a trivial task. **Precision, max-strength welding too, in some sort of rotary jig.
