Hmm. It's an XSi but the ad says 170hp. Has it had an engine swap? Disnae look like it. This is a GTi engine:

Peugeot_306_GTI6_engine.jpg

Bullshitter selling it? I mean, even with the standard 130hp I bet it goes alright.

Probably neither. I wouldn't hold too much faith in Gumtree's "enter your reg to find your vehicle specs"  function.  I've found the details it produces to be completely wrong on numerous occasions.

£395 for any car with 12 months ticket deserves a second glance. I thought the days of finding a £395 130BHP 306 XSI were gone already. I would be on it like a pisshead on a curry if my stable wasn't already maxxed out

Aye, but in this case I'd say the gumtree auto description is more accurate, as only the GTi had 170hp.

I'd also be on it like a tramp on chips at that price, but it's all the way down in Devon. Bit far from Aberdeen! I had two 306s in a row years ago (a turbo XUD then an HDi) and loved both of them.

"car is very unique in its look"

FFS something is either unique or it isn't.

There are no degrees of uniqueness.

*slopes off to the grumpy thread.....

Have you asked to see how they do it?
Takes 2 shells to make a proper rally shortie. A 2 door shell to a approx a 6 inches behind the A pillar and the rest backwards from a hatchback shell.  They are probably making a good living from it with the money that sloshes around. Need VERY good welding skills mind. I seem to remember reading somewhere the also narrowed the shell by a foot but I may just be making that up in my addled old brain.

As with MK1 escorts it will not be too long before shells will be made from scratch. There cannot be many 2 door audi 80 b2 shells left in europe.

Yeah to do it properly you need a 2-door  Audi 80 shell (which as you say is rare enough in its own right) for the upright screen and door apertures and a Coupe shell for the rear end. You also need to be very creative in the floorpan department as it’s not just a case of chopping a foot out behind the B pillars. They don’t narrow the shell though - why would they, most of them end up a foot wider by the time the box arches are glued on!

Poor Minor needs love. As previously discussed, “bumperless” look is hard to get right on Minors.

Under the bonnet, however, is easy to perfect something this simple. So no excuse for this mess.

always wondered if it was my aging brain mixing stuff up.  Could not be bothered to look it up again as I will never have the money to do it.....

Check out this little dinger - when did you last see one?

€13k though!

He bought that at auction in July for just over £3000. I know this as I was live bidding! Magically it appeared a month later fs in Ireland at the price that is still advertised, it's been on CaC for ages. The original owner in Yorkshire tried to flog it on the CRX forum years ago for 5k, and it went nowhere. The ceiling advertised price for these is currently 8k for a better example (on one of the whitewall dealers - don't know how much it actually sold for), so this cunt really is your archetypal dreamer/flipper who can't even be arsed to fix the tiny things wrong with it.

Er, that's not a 2CV.  Which I suppose proves your point!

To be fair, the red 'un in the background is a 2CV, maybe that's the one the dog was talking about...

My mate had one of these when we were 17, a Vtec one. It seemed out of this world quick back then- I’ll never forget the first time he floored it and the revs just seemed to go on forever. Something inside me changed that day.

Same for when a friend drove us around in his old 90s Civic VTI, razzing it around town at 8000rpm with 3 of us in the back. Insane.

In lighter news, the BXClub bicycle is back for sale again.

Reminds me of a guy I used to work with,

refused to wear overalls or gloves never used to wash his hands, he would drive from job to job and get filthier and filthier as the day went on (hydraulic hose fitters dirty work) his van was absolutely rancid there was that much dirt on the seats and trim that small plants were growing in the seams  🤢
