There was a tasty Wartburg camper type thing too (can be seen in the background) - that just needed a fuel pump too, was the same type of engine as the others. Must be a weak point on these.

That's a Barkas, although the powertrain is the same as the Wartburg; more info please.

A Tipo? With MOT? For less than £400? Inexplicably shot up to nearly a grand. Bizarre.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202009033286523?advertising-location=at_cars&is-quick-search=TRUE&postcode=cv100nr&model=TIPO&sort=price-asc&page=1&make=FIAT&include-delivery-option=on&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=New&advertClassification=standard

Be cautious though... its most recent MOT suggests tinworm is about to be an issue. "General underbody corrosion" and something about a holed rear panel potentially doesn't bode well.

These 3.2 ones seem a bit less 'grenady' than the 4.5 ones.

Have to say, it's extremely tempting.

Went off the road three years ago with power steering problems. I bet it's absolutely fucked underneat now (more's the pity) but £2250 ono is stilla  fair price as if the engine can live on it'd do someone.

Bit confusing this, the listing is for three cars, and it's not clear which one this charming engine bay belongs to. Still, £1000 for three Wartburgs... that'll keep you out of the pub for a while!

Not sure about FWD but from what I've managed to glean through epic procrastination this afternoon, the engine is under the drivers seat on all of these French "Standards".  The double deckers seem to have great shite credentials in other respects too, only about 25 built and none lasted a full decade in service.

Interestingly theres an equally rubbish PGR midibus in the same auction as well. They're clearly not expecting much interest in either of them with those reserve prices, which would of course be a fraction of what's required to get them actually roadworthy again.

Looks like both of these sold - the double decker for precisely half of what the single deck went for, weirdly. I’ve been reading up on these things, they both comically missed the mark but in different ways. I must share my discoveries on the Bus Shite thread soon.

I think the later Saviem SC10 is related to these as they both became part of Renault in the 1970s. You are right about the engine, It's a MAN unit on its side under the driver's floor. I have a Norev plastic model of one bought from a shiter on here and which was a lot bigger than I thought when I opened the box!
