Handling was fucking evil. I found the 500 Mach3 even more evil though. No power at all up to a certain point, then it all came in at once with a bang. Fun in a straight line, but if your leant over mid corner, all hell is let loose. Frame felt like it was made from rubber and the brakes from wood. The dance of defiance was a regular and scary experience. Strangely though, I nearly died and got lifelong / life changing injuries from a little KH250, but copious amounts of alcohol were involved. Sounds ludicrous in this day and age I know but it was 1976. 12th October to be exact. Lovely looking things, but I still think the 916 is probably the most gorgeous looking bike ever made.
