Sun Wasp - what a great name.

s-l1600.jpg

But what's this?

s-l1600.jpg

Ah..

Quote

Like most scooters of the period it was directed at both the male and female rider, for the latter it has a low saddle height of 28 inches, narrowed footboards to assist those with shorter legs and a two pedal gear change to prevent damaged shoes.  Most two pedal changes were heel and tow but Sun went for two tow pedals side by side making it easier for ladies wearing dainty heeled shoes to make the change.

Taken from https://www.haynesmotormuseum.com/vehicles/sun-wasp-1959-61 who also have some nice pictures of a restored one:

Channel Islands bug.  Really, it's survived remarkably well given that it's practically already in the sea.

It's even got the crazy semi auto box!

Jason Torchinsky of Jalopnik recently did a video explanation of these transmissions, it's rather informative.

a mark 1 Rover P6 in tobacco leaf, surely one to live the dream with.

don't like the sound of it needing welding on the sills and d-post. but surely these things are built up on a separate base unit, so the sills aren't structural?

My dad had a 3.5 V8 in that glorious glorious colour with a vinyl roof, wonderful I thought, the wings were really bad rust traps though.

It's the 1.8 diesel lump in this, which produces exactly 157,916 times less smoke than the wanky old 1.8 CVH boat anchors some of these got lumbered with.

Enjoy that picture of the car, there's only one other as all the rest look the result of a small explosion at a car boot sale.

But has a 70s 2 stroke power* band. The cvh was far nicer.

Being a tractor, you can run it on Red Diesel,

Is this true? I thought that was only the case if you are driving off-highway, hence why tractors etc have two fuel tanks.

Longer term, he advises a brake service

So the brakes don't actually work then
