....Needless to say I walked away. The chap who was selling said he had removed it from Gumtree as he’s been inundated with calls, including an offer of £3.5k sight unseen. I told him to accept that offer if it was still on the table!

Probably worth more as a parts source

The guy who owned it bought it for the interior, so you might be right. That said, I don’t think parts for a 944 are rare or particularly valuable so I’m not sure how much it’d break for.

Anyway my reckoning is that you can get a good 2.5 944 with a bit of history in nice usable condition for £5-6k so that makes a mouldy non-runner with 50k but no history worth very little in my eyes. If it had been stored inside for 20 years and had some provenance I might have bought it just to see the look on my wife’s face.

Looks ok doesn’t it?

especially considering

The interior looks just as sweet.

Cant work out if the 900 quid asking is well worth it or taking the piss.

99p start, though it does have a reserve.

Wow I like that! Ended at £671 last time, shows what 5 values are like now.

I just left a deposit on a Frenchie so can't commit to this. Genuinely would have otherwise, old Renault's are fab.

Look at the friggin state of this. Would just about look tolerable in a seaside family photo with 2 beaming 5 yr-olds sat in waving their arms about and parping the horn. But an actual responsible adult travelling about in it? GTF.

I had a loan of a mr2 turbo rev 1 and thought that was a brilliant motor but big balls required for wet weather.

Not just the turbos. I had a Mk2 MR2 GT T-Bar which I managed to spin on a wet road whilst going in a straight line. Fortunately the road was wide, it was late at night and the car spun on its axis, ending up pointing in the direction I'd just come from without hitting anything else. This was a facelift model with the "tamed" rear suspension. The early Mk2s must have been really brown trouser to drive.
