wuvvum
This is another one I'd never heard of. Italian import, but has an Italian CoC with it which should make it slightly easier to register. Oviously a povvo spec model though - instead of a speedometer it has a blanking plate with "speedometer" written on it. Timing belt or chain on that one? Looks like its a belt on the FE engine this has. Pretty sure the GE (high performance, Celicas and Carina E GTI) got a chain though. Not sure if these suffered high oil consumption. I think the FEs did a bit generally but not as a big an issue as the 1.8 1ZZ engine. egg

From memory there’s some lean burn kit on the 1800 which makes them very economical (45-48 very achievable) but it is something else to go wrong. The Starfire I had (ALA 214G) was the biggest pile of poorly assembled bits masquerading as a motorcycle i have ever owned, and I've owned some rubbish in my life. By BSA tuning a 40 year old motor was asking for trouble. It was breakdown after breakdown, none ever possible to fix by the roadside. My mate had the 250 Goldstar at the time I had my Starfire. Another mate had the 250 Barracuda. Both of theirs broke down less frequently than mine, but that was because they were on the road far less than mine as they were in 100's of bits 90% of the time. Better off with a 250cc two stroke AMF Harley (and that's saying something!!!)

That is a lot of car for £995 sticker. The only one better* was a GLS estate back in 2017 for £850 which had 58k on it. In my experience, mileage is irrelevant to the running of the engine but vital for nice interior plastics and good carpets. I have to say, if I was looking for a car - and it’s as good as it looks - I’d buy it. egg

The reality of 90s Toyota ownership is other stuff dies before the motor. I’ve got 2.5 functioning electric windows now for example! The 7A can suffer the same extreme oil burning as the later ZZ engine (Which make me think the ZZ is based on the 7A), though i generally like the cars the 7A was in much more than the early 2000ish cars the ZZ was fitted to. Personally I think the 2.0 16v 3SGE was the best they did. It went from 150bhp in the mid/late 1980s to 170 then 200bhp in the late 90s. The turbo 3S-GTE was obviously another level. This was back when Toyota were really interesting to me. Turbo MR2, Celica GT4, Supra plus all the 2.0 16v models like Celica GT and Carina E GTI. I think they kinda gave up in the early/mid 2000s. They were made in Pesaro in Italy by one of the Benelli brothers after he spat his dummy out and stomped out of Benelli to set up his own company - MotoBi. MotoBi specialised in smaller cc bikes and mopeds (hence the above). In a twist of fate Benelli bought out MotoBi in the 60's. Confusingly some MotoBi's where then sold as Benellis (eg in the USA) and some Benellis were badged as MotoBi's (and Moto Guzzi's).
