I suspect it was more that they were seeing whether they could get away with saving the tooling cost, rather than being uncertain about volumes. 'It just stopped on the motorway/loads of smoke came out/RAC think it had ran out of oil' There's nay a sign of it trying to turn over, just a horrible small thunk. The o/s/f wing is dented, small one on door too (I think) and there's a dent or deep scratch on the n/s/r quarter. Interior is awful, water's been getting into the boot and the whole inside looks minging. Last MOT says 81,500 miles. Tested until November, can get pictures. He wants £300 for it, so if anyone has an engine you can maybe somehow turn a profit out of it. Price probably negotiable a bit. It's in Chester.
