Apparently Monteverdi was too busy to engineer the running gear for the Hai so sub-contracted it out as a project for the third year Craft and Design kids. somewhatfoolish
That's quite special, it reminds me of the quality* triangulation and fine workmanship* evident in the chassis of the wreck of a Dutton my brother used to have. No mention of its mileage. If it was being driven to and within Norway and Sweden in its day, that won't be low miles.....

JeeExEll
Possibly engine seized, but that's fixable / replaceable. Not sure if it's a column auto or maybe a 3-speed manual? The relevant info for that year / model will be on Vauxpedia. From the pics it looks like a great project for someone. Interior is in fantastic condition. It's like something out of 'Get Carter'. FFS just look at this vandalism from The Professionals. garethj, Braddon81, Bamboocarman and 4 others
JeeExEll
Look at this. £4500 buy it now. Err, I'd have paid £30 max for this 30 years ago. My perspective hasn't changed much. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Escort-mk2-project/264446897456?hash=item3d92436d30:g:MsIAAOSwBA1dA7kOP

Three speed manual, if it was an auto the selector would be on the floor. Nothing I can do about it but I really hope someone saves that. morrisoxide
22 hours ago, Tadhg Tiogar said: Interesting. This might actually be the same car, in a previous ownership.... Seems these RHD cars - and there were quite a few of them - came in via the importer's premises in Chiswick..... Googling suggests they were on the Great West Road at Chiswick Flyover, so possibly not far from where Fiat had a premises with a massive concrete clock standing outside. Very interesting nice detective work! I'd guess that it is the very same car. The under bonnet shots show light blue like in the advert blurb. from ebay\/ Quote painted it blue many years ago unknown why maybe just preference. Last owner painted back to original amc dark burgundy colour. 957UUR is on a new 2014 Mini now with low millage, also both AMCs have original owners handbooks.
