Looks decent this. 5 cylinder diesel, only 70k miles, only £150 or offer. Needs some welding but probably not too much. When did you last see one? Other than Nigel's one that got assaulted with a pallet of books the other week I mean.

Bonus points for background chod, I think thats a red Peugeot 309 behind the Corsa?

Unreliable, wooden, fan base of about 3 people in the entire world and as popular as a fart in a space suit. But never mind the Corsa, look at the Marina.

Quite an early one this, thus slightly less absolutely fucking awful as the ones that followed. Dare say if the rest of the car is as good as the bits pictured, £500 is probably quite good value*

This belongs to my mate Tony in Perth and it was dismantled by the PO (the Brechin antique dealer) and left in a shed. Tony bought it to save it from the scrappy (he also owns a lovely Fleur de Lys van) and then bought the pick up to put it on. The pick up is a nice example, the completed van would be less so in my opinion :-)

Whitbread's in Blackburn had one of these in the 80s when my dad and uncle worked in the depot garage. My dad used to come home in it quite often. He wasn't that keen but the excitement from me and our Luke when the "vintage" van came home might have been worth his while. Don't knock it it's harmless!!

Right, these are from Facebook. I don't know the lad selling them, think he sells a few old cars but seems to come across as ok. They're in Wem, Shropshire (probs about equi-distant from Shrewsbury and Whitchurch). He says they all run and they're all Perkins diesels...

They're £300 each, firm. I suspect they were bought for LandRover or canal boat engine conversions, as he implied that and seems to know his stuff. He did also have a non-running 309 diesel (haven't found out which pump yet) a fairly rough 205 diesel (5 door) and a 405 estate which I believe is diesel.#

If anyone wants his number, drop me a message, please. No idea if that's his recovery truck in one or two of the pictures, but if he can't put you in touch with a recovery driver, I know someone who'd move them for the right price. Can only imagine they're good for the motors and a handful of other bits.

It's the early ones that are the worst. It was only really when they introduced zetec 16v engines and fiddled with the chassis did they become acceptable.

Recon gearbox, new clutch and labour ? About £800

Value fixed ? 1200

Yeah. That's about right.

To be fair they aren't TOO hard to work on as the front bonnet comes off pretty easily to give loads of access (not necessary really on just a box) then it's nuts and bolts stuff. Certainly doable on the drive, deffo in the garage and with a lift it's pretty pips.

I changed a seized* engine in one with my mate and it was out on the floor within a couple of hours or so (admittedly using a 2 post lift)......

Unfortunately when he swapped over the engine the next day he decided to see what was causing the seizure on the old one, yes jammed solid as diagnosed by the garage, however after removing the gearbox and starter it miraculously started turning over by hand. Starter tested, seized solid.....

Ooops.

Still it ran nice afterwards and the other engine was sold on eBay.
