eBay tat volume 3.

The timing is all wrong for me to attempt to bid on this and it is a very long way away, which is annoying. I have a sneaking feeling that it will go through at just under £2000, which is very cheap for a running XK8 with MOT. These cars are an utter minefield of potential problems though. You either have to pay very little or be very, very careful buying (rust, gearbox, rust and timing chains). Damn they are pretty though (this has the wrong wheels, but still). I'd have a mean set of X300 XJR allys for it.

There's a cabriolet one of those parked around the corner from me in a very well to do house with a nice low numbers private plate on it, been sat there years. They've got a newish e class cabriolet instead. Can always put a note on the screen if anyone's interested?

Guy I worked with offshore had one in silver, looked a peach but he found a rust bubble one day on the rear valance thing and ended up chasing it to find the whole panel completely rotten. We're going back at least 6-7 years ago but this was in the Aberdeen area where cars don't survive very well. He loved everything else about it though.

Has any of you ever seen a more typically Italian driving position?

It's because Italian men have the arse so low down and so long arms.

Normally proportioned people hence can't drive Italian cars.

Ive got one of these, the steering wheel isnt quite centered either, its a very strange driving position. Nice to sit back and look at though.

For some bizarre, completely unfathomable reason, I have watchlisted this crate. Great read by the way - sounds like the seller needs to be alerted to this place post haste

Elegance FTW

Definitely worth asking if the owner would part with the cabriolet. It has to be very cheap though to rescue one of those due to the very likely rot. Where in the land is it? Problem is most punters think most XK8s are worth thousands and thousands because they are pretty. I was at a Jag specialist recently and their opinion of old XK8s is that they are usually worth more in parts. Once you see bubbling at the rear quarters, the amount of welding required is enormous, like you say.

That's the best description of a Mercedes I have ever read. Any Mercedes.

The ad neither mentions what it is, whether it actually drives, nor does it contain a single pic of the entire car.

This is the full description:

Beautiful car very clean and look like new from inside and from outside looks beautiful but will small scratches

Apart from the fact that a four year old could describe a car better than this, does the seller try to tell me that it has small scratches, or that it will have small scratches in the future? If it has small scratches, the claim that it looks like new is contradicted in one and the same sentence (!), if it will have small scratches in the future, the seller is a clairvoyant.
