Were there any pre-facelift V8s? 425th off the production line is probably in reality pre-launch production, Rover would have produced perhaps a couple of thousand ready for the launch so that every dealer could have some in the showroom and whoever had put their money down beforehand. True pre-production are often cubed because they don't meet type approval or to save on tax.

Here’s one. It’s not an Estate mind, but an SE and perfect in every other respect... bar the price. £12000.

Crikey.  It's only gone and become

296ex5z.gifof nonsense from me.  I'm so sorry.

To celebrate, how about a forgotten 90s car with a 80s engine, the pre-widebodylift Alfa 155

Alfa Romeo 155 1.8 T.Spark

It has no cambelt, it’s a chain. It’s had no accidents or bumps or scrapes, it’s recently had a re-spray

Full service history

£3,500

I miss my old 155.  Doesn't seem expensive this one, what with the old 8v engine instead (late-plate madness) this MUST BE the most classic and collectable TIPO ever.  Probably.

Either I know this or it's Ghosty's old car.

This is indeed my old car.

Ad neglects to mention that the head gasket's been replaced, but the cambelt/exhaust are news to me (unless he thinks I did the cambelt, I didn't). Seems to be in much the same condition except there's a dog in it now and the repair to the arch has failed - but I think it was just fillered for the MOT. Sills seem to be going again too.

He's selling it at a loss as he only bought it off me for £400.

That's our old friend H407LCF that was sold for £747 in January in Ramsgate, and now finds itself hundreds of miles away in Glasgow, with a year's ticket.

Looks like it was delivered North, put in for a 'what's wrong with it MOT' early in Feb then sorted.

Must have been the best job in the world being a coach seat designer in the 80's. All you had to do was get smashed out of your bonce on Class A, then get the crayons out.

Not a car but these things are rare...and if we have anyone on board with a Renault 4, 5, or 6 these could be well worth a go.

Sure they need some paint but look superbe when done!

To slightly paraphrase Julius Caesar : I saw, I came, I bid.

Let's hope someone outbids me, otherwise I'll be in serious trouble...

I contacted the seller about the 504 as I was also going to bid. The engine froze recently throwing out a freeze plug (his words) and blowing the gasket, possibly worse. It's also rather bubbly in places, mostly on the front wings and door bottoms. It's the engines woes that put me off...

Good luck!
