In fairness, assuming it's not packed full of wob it does seem to have been done well, aesthetic preferences aside.

They did make the Austin Gipsy, bodywork was all steel, independent suspension all round using "Flexitor" rubber springs developed by Alex Moulton - it used the BMC 2199 cc petrol engine; later diesel too. They made some long-wheelbase fully enclosed versions.

21,000 made and no competitor for the Land Rover. Rusty and thirsty - quite a nasty thing I remember. We had one.

Custom Car IIRC - they did a competition in cahoots with BL, customised and gave away an Allegro, Princess and Sherpa
