Ok, it’s not a pick up (it could be if you take a grinder to it) but it’s definitely a DIY marriage of a W126 and a Renault Express.

This was at the 2CV World Meeting in Scotland in 2005, hauling die-cast models IIRC.  It was raining* there, too...

With the lengthy bonnet and long rear deck it has a bit of a push-me-pull-you look.

I may have posted this one here previously:

Actually, is it a pickup or a coupe with an insanely long bootlid?

Some logic in starting off with a Cabriolet.

Apparently they did a few Rialto pickups, but none of the Robin.

Not technically homemade, but not factory either.

It's a trayback, the idea of a trayback is that they don't have wheel arches intruding in the load space which is convenient and makes construction simple. Does not compute.

Get a load of the two and eight of this. 12/10 for effort, but why not just start with a knackered yank pick-up, save time and have it actually look like the thing it's supposed to look like?

Because it’s easier and cheaper to start with a knackered Land Rover Discovery, the shonky panel fit and questionable electrics are fitted at the factory in Solihull.
